Can anyone give an estimate, based off of previous releases, as to how long it'll take for a public release? I can't be the only one itching to jailbreak my iPad2.
I'm no expert, but it's a user land exploit which is in the firmware itself. Jailbreaks on other iDevices are hardware which means Jailbreakable for life.
It's most likely going to be at jailbreakme.com, which is a .PDF used to exploit. So I guess a few days at most. It's not going to be a program like Redsn0w or pwnagetool.
So it should be pretty quick.
I don't understand why everyone is getting so mad. It got moved, chill out.

What song is playing in the background when the iPod games demo occurs during the event?
I don't know but, speaking of songs, did anyone else lose a bunch of album art in the upgrade to iTunes 7?

I wonder if apples hardware sales would start to drop if they were to announce that there will be no more work towards a jailbreak on future devices

That's a good start, thank you. Saves me banging my head against a wall looking for larger. I understand that the physical height of the drive is quite important too, any ideas?

Seems 9.5mm is still the maximum height: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/mac-mini/

On both of my mac's I'm having an assortment of problems with 10.3.7. Problems, I haven't had before. Yes, I have fixed permissions, etc., etc., yadda-yadda and all that. This is the very last time that I ever upgrade both at the same time (something I have never done before) - puts me out of work.
On one machine my fonts are messed up and after extensive attempts to sort out the duplicate fonts it's still not being resolved. Of course, this wreaks havoc on everything else as well...
On another machine...iTunes is now unusable. Intermittent freezes, hanging the system up...sheesh...
Yeah, sure...I've been reading support files all over the place and nothing is working. I don't like the prospect of reinstalling the OS...
Anybody else having similar problems?

I vote for people who favor higher taxes on the rich...
Shocking.
Oh man Michael Moore is such a blithering blowhard.
If he REALLY thinks that "These people" do not help anyone, I invite him to produce his next "film" with his own home made camera (some rich bastard no doubt invented all these nice cameras for his own benefit), build his own theater for showings (Bastard rich multimedia conglomerations!) in the nude (bastard clothiers trying to make a profit from keeping people clothed!) with his own 2 hands (Bastard tool corporations!).
Until then, he continues to be a certifiably grade-A moron, not to mention a hypoxcrit of UNREAL proportions.

I don't think it is laziness as much as it is impatience. After the news that Comex jail broke the iPad 2 there hasn't really been any news or reason why the jailbreak hasn't been released yet. I know, from googling, that he is waiting to package it a little better. But following the various twitter accounts there really hasn't been any news.
My advice, just follow the blogs and they will let you know in a timely matter.

I have another question, I have my airport extreme set to only allow the specific MAC addresses of the devices I'm using. Would I be able to continue to use this feature with a switch?
Yes. Switches do not strip MAC addresses like routers do.

I had a similar problem, run through the steps.
If you are running 4.2.1 stop reading, they will say it's "jailbroken", but it is really not.
1. I used Limera1n and did not receive an icon either. I had to use Greenpois0n.
2. When you used GreenPois0n, did you see command-line run on your touch? If not, it's not jailbroken.
3. Try redsn0w, it's not as simple, but it is way more effective.
4. If you... Wait... I thought it was impossible to jailbreak a iPT 4G right now!
Yes you can jailbreak ipt4g.

I think I can remember where a picture was taken.
Then you will be able to tag the photo after in is in the computer with location. If the camera had a GPS then it could tag the photo.. Either way then you could search, years laters for "photos of my daughtrer taken in France between 2007 and 2010." and they'd pop up. Location tags are a good thing.

Turn off the "Positive" or "Negative" voting system.
How is it that more than 10% of the people ranking this post can determine that news of the new Mac OS is negative. Especially when said OS is on-time and will offer way more functionality than we quite yet know. Not to mention the fact that this OS will natively enable another competing OS -- all without blinking the proverbial eye.
I've read the posts, and I don't see a single objection of substance. While I wish that Macs were free and there was no war, poverty or disease, I also think that people shouldn't be allowed to take the fun out of this site simply because their parents haven't yet asked them to:
1. Get a job
2. Move out of the basement
3. Get a place of their own
4. Pay their own bills
5. Realize there is more to life than PSP3, XBox 360, SecondLife.com, World of Warcraft, etc.

Yeah, the AppleInsider article provides quite a bit more detail.
including the orientation sensor that I mentioned...
Taking things a bit further, Apple said the electronic device "may be capable of rotation and may have an orientation sensor for determining the orientation of the device." Based on the sensed orientation, the areas on the bezel designated for the user controls could then be altered or relocated to match the current orientation. Likewise, the company said, the user interface software operating on the device can alter the location of the visual guides to match the current position of the areas on the bezel designated for the user controls.

I think there's a huge market for this. Anyone who is into taking pictures would enjoy this.
There's a website (or used to be anyway) that was being developed before Google came into the picture that integrated pictures using GPS data onto a map of the US. I can't remember the name of it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
