I still can't believe you lot in the USA have gone for yet another incompatible-with-the-rest-of-the-world frequency for your 3G network meaning that anyone coming to the USA won't be able to use your 3G network and your 3G iPhones will be about as useful as a one legged dog outside the USA.
It's interesting that the T-Mobile guy thinks that the prime use for 3G in the USA will be email and other user generated content and not music though. Personally the last thing I want is content rich email on my mobile phone.
I can't believe 3G is new for the Americans.
Land of the free indeed....:p

Ah, but YOU'RE missing the point completely. As resolutions inscrease the interface can scale up because it is resolution independent in 10.5. Web pages are NOT resolution independent for the most part. Photos, graphics, interfaces are not. So, when you're looking at your killter 3000x2000 monitor yes your icons and OS interface can scale up and your photos will look very crisp BECAUSE they are vector or have extra resolution to draw from. Websites on the other hand will be fixed at 800x600 or whatever and unless you want them to be miniscule on your screen as they are shown pixel for pixel, they will have to be blown up in some way.
So the res independence IS a good thing and just fine UNTIL the monitor resolutions go through the roof for the same physical screen sizes.
There are too many things outthere that are desinged WITHOUT the independence. Icons inside nearly every application for example. All kinds of stuff. My guess is that this won't affect too much too quickly. It just addresses some issues with the current interface on high screen monitors.
There is no reason that internet images can't scale right along with everything else. Just because something is bitmapped doesn't mean it can't scale nicely. There are a million decent algorythms for scaling bitmapped images.
If an image is designed to look nice with a 72 dpi resolution and your monitor is at 144 dpi, then the image will be the identical size, shape and appearance as a 72 dpi monitor when the image is scaled 2 to 1 on the 144 dpi monitor.
Where is the problem? The resolution independence will come from the browser rendering not from the website design. In otherwords, if a user scales safari up on a high-res monitor then the contents will scale as well regardless of what the contents are, bitmap image, vector image, etc.

So wait, not only is the timeline between iPhone 4 and 5 the largaest gap in the 5 iterations of the phone but it will only be minor internal hardware improvements?
All the while these new Android phones look slicker and slicker by the day with much larger screens (something I personally like)?
My iPhone 3G is on it's last legs, if the iPhone 5 is just a spec bumped 4 then count me out.

Let's face it, Microsoft can't compete. It won't be long before they kill off their whole mac unit. Who needs their crappy software anyway? When some little known Russian software company can do in months what Micrsoft can't do in years it's obvious where this is going. VMWare will come out with a better virtualization technology and Windows will continue to become irrelevant. iWork needs a spreadsheet and you'll be hard pressed to find a reason to run anything Microsoft on your mac.
I said it before on these posts and got laughed to scorn, Microsoft is dead. Everyone knows it. Even die hard Windows fanboys are starting to have doubts. Vista will fail miserably and the company will be broken up. Why anyone would use something second rate, more expensive, less secure, and of inferior quality in the light of such a polished and mature operating system is beyond comprehension.

I've wondered about this for a while. and I would even pay to have all the chat history for my MSN (@hotmail.com) account!
I think this could be possible, because some messages get stored when you're offline and you receive them when you log in. so why don't they keep them all in their servers?
can anyone help with this?
p.s. what's actually stored on my macbook is only 6 months old, but I want all 9 years worth of it.
p.p.s. by any case, does Facebook chat messages get stored too?

I'm surprised at you kavika.I'm surprised at your failure to detect kavika's brand of heavy-handed sarcasm.
Seriously? Even a child knows that if they have $10, a bully takes $5, but then returns $1, that the bully didn't GIVE them anything, but rather TOOK $4 instead of $5. Saying things like the government is 'giving people tax relief' is backwards thinking.Giving relief from taxes is not the same as stealing money. Without taxes, your country would not function, either for rich or poor. The money has to come from somewhere, and it makes a great deal more sense for more of it to come from those who can afford it at the expense of a few unnecessary luxuries than from those who need it to pay for their necessities. Without the infrastructure funded by taxation, only warlords would be able to keep hold of their money. Are you so keen to emulate Somalia?
And if that mobjority decides that they want to take all the wealth of a certain group of people, that's their right to do? Since they have a majority? It's pretty easy to get support from a majority of people to take other people's money and distribute it to them. It's just not moral. Your position is that individuals have zero moral, legal, or otherwise claim to the wealth that they themselves work for/earn?Needless to say, that is not his position, or anyone's. You have produced an absurd strawman argument, as is your wont.
As evidence that some rich people didn't earn their wealth, you just referenced Enron that went bankrupt, Madoff who went to prison, and the Banks who we bailed out... and would have otherwise gone bankrupt. So, essentially three examples where the free market either did or would have (without government intervention) correctly punished bad businesses. Odd choice. You seem unable to differentiate between bad businesses and the huge bonuses and salaries paid by them.
Hardly. All I'm trying to do is better understand your position. No, you are not. You are trying to utterly mischaracterise his position. Please don't be so transparently disingenuous. You cannot possibly be so stupid as to think that is anybody's real position.

Someone needs to convince a game developer to port the code over as a game disk.
Rather than spend $200 on the HD linux kit you could spend ~$40 on the disk and a memory card, and just pop it in and fold.

ABC News reports (http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/ZDM/story?id=2537247)For some reason, T-Mobile's Chief Executive Robert Dotson reportedly discussed "at some length about how Apple's and T-Mobile's visions seem to be aligned."
This is a total no-brainer. T-Mobile doesn't have it's own network, it rents its airtime from Cingular... Apple and Cingular are already in bed. It's a trickle-down effect... T-Mobile wants their own iPhone. Not surprising, really. (and yeah, release the Cracken! (err.. iPhone!)...

For playing video on my PS3 I just have an external HD that I keep formatted in FAT format so the PS3 can read it. You can just plug it into your computer, load it up then plug it into your PS3 and play files directly off of it. It's easier than any other solution I've seen and is cheaper and simpler to manage.

I am! I figure with launch on a Friday they'll have enough in stock to last the weekend since they wouldn't be able to get more until at the earliest Monday.
Prob be a line but not terrible since it's a suburbs store on a weekday rush hour launch
Thoughts? Anyone else going?
Black or White? I was set on black but now leaning white, may have to see in person

I create a button at runtime. The button appears but crashes the app with an NSException error when I click on it. I don't see what the issue is. I need a pair of new eyes. Thanks.

Let's face it, Microsoft can't compete.
See, here's the problem.
They really can't compete. Microsoft's best guys are on the XBox project.
They are screwing up ACROSS THE BOARD.
- Their newest release of Exchange is a CRASH Nightmare.
- IIS 6.0 can be crashed with a Large Sql Query to a DataGrid.
- Their development staff couldn't handle "Checked Exceptions".
( Too lazy for Error Handling? )
- So, with something as Complex as Virtual Pc,
you have to wonder, how deep is the bench?
Not Deep Enough.
Microsoft, soon to be the: "Microsoft Game Company".
In games they're fairly competent.

I've had account on here forever but only browse much, I was wondering if any of you have seen this before. It was given to me by a swiss friend who didn't really want the sign anymore.
I am thinking about selling it, only thing is the display looks as if it was made for european outlets and when I was given this he said that the bulb would need to be replaced. I've never really seen anything like this before either, since I would guess that the sign was before the Apple retail store days. I am not sure if I am allowed to ask but how much would something like this even go for?

I have no idea if this is true or not, I have not tried it yet.
EDIT:
I just tried it, and it does work.

Don't underestimate the power of javascript. There is a lot of good stuff out there but there's also a lot of "hello world" type dross. If you're serious about it, an excellent resource is JavaScript: The Definitive Guide (http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/jscript4/). Online there's The Strange Zen of JavaScript (http://jszen.blogspot.com/) and the legendary and incredibly useful QuirksMode (www.quirksmode.org/).

jailbreak it yourself
Great. Then what?
Jailbreaking doesn't unlock it and many iPhone 4's cannot currently be exploit unlocked.
