The entrance you ant is the one by gregs and hsbc. It's open at about 6am ;). If you want in earlier go down to the abbey entrance to the left is a set of stairs. Go down them and cross the service road. Through the fire exit and up the stairs and follow the corridoor. It comes out bang opposite the apple store.

The dump command runs as root. Do you actually run the database as root with all file owned by root? Most people would make a special user just for the databse. If you are setup like that then perhaps you should run the dump as that user.
I don't use mysql but other DBMSes will refuse to run under root as that is to dangerous
I don't intend to run the dump command as a root, but was kinda using the root account while I was testing all the backup commands to make sure things don't get the permission issue.
The weird thing is that the script worked just find from command line, but did nothing from the cronjob.

Would it be better t o try and do this off of a memory stick? How many gigs would I need?
By games I'm talking about mostly casual games with small clients and low GPU usage...
Memory stick is still USB so it would still be contrained and probably not perform well.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate in 11 gig as I recall using Parallels. Not a whole lot of space. You'll need much more if you will run games.

Sorry, but Excel running on Windows (and to a lesser extend, Macs) is by far the standard, and for good reason. It runs wonderfully, on fast and horrendously slow computers.
I've been using Google Spreadsheets to some degree, and while it's kinda cool with the whole online thing, it's slow, lags, and not as good as Excel. Nobody's going to go to a class to learn Google Spreadsheets, they're going to learn Excel in school.
Excel sucks, it one of the worst programs for freeing memory back to the OS, it is an incredible resource hog and kills innovation for aspiring to professional applications. Other than that it is OK for a limited work scope.
Pages is a great app. Text only documents even come out looking better than MS Word. I think people don't like it because it isn't an exact clone of Word. It reminds me of people who won't try a Mac because the OS looks different and scares them haha.
Seriously, if you don't like the inspector then right click on the toolbar at the top and customize it. You would be surprised just how much it can be made to look and function just like Word. If you don't want the templates to come up at start then you can turn that off too.
I think that the two big shortcomings that I find with Pages is the lack of a full mail-merge functionality, which will be fixed with the release of "Lasso" or Numbers or Charts or whatever it is and the lack of a built-in thesaurus as I really don't like to copy and paste from the system wide one. The thesaurus issue is supposed to be fixed with the next version of Pages as well.
Sorry for not being clear. I use Pages and I like it very much. It is the NAME that is not ringing my bell.

I have recently acquired a PowerBook Duo 280c with an Apple Mini Dock, a Micro Dock and a floppy drive. I also have an AsanteTalk, which acts as a physical bridge between RJ45 ethernet and LocalTalk networks. It's running Mac OS 7.6.1.
On my desktop is a MacBook Pro Core Duo with OS X v10.6, an internet connection and a USB floppy drive.
I have a stack of System 7 software, but mostly on CD. There also still seems to be a lot hanging around the Internet.
What I want to do is get software onto the Duo. I know nothing whatsoever technical about the Classic OS or LocalTalk. I am aware that a USB floppy drive won't read traditional Mac formatted disks, though OS 7.6.1 seems to have some level of support for DOS floppies.
So, I guess:

Yep - they get downsampled to 16bit / 44.1khz, just like AirPlay via Apple TV or Airport Express..

So I have now upgraded the Mac Pro with 2x X5690 and they work great. Only thing concerning me is the temperature for processor A is like 6 degrees higher when idle (B 28, A 33) and up to 12 degrees celcius higher when stress testing in Prime95 in OSX. Using iStat, it unfortunately shows only the average temp for all cores on any one CPU and not temp for each core. Is these anything available for OSX that will show all core temps?
I doubt it's a case of heatsink having poor contact with CPU due to thermal grease having gaps etc. Because the temperatures are still in the norm, it's just that CPU B is really cool. After about 15 min in Prime95 it sort of averages 63 for CPU B and 72 for CPU A and these 1366 chips can safely do 78/80 as far as I recall.
Not worth remounting you reckon ? I applied even amounts of MX-4 to both chips and covered their surface entirely.
What are the temps under stress testing?
A couple of things to note:

Any application itself should run off the system drive. The application doesn't need a dedicated drive to run. I think what your friend means is that you keep all your projects and media used in that project on a dedicated drive. It's those files that will get accessed a lot and if you want smooth, consistent performance you put all of that on a dedicated drive.
That's what I thought at first, too. But, he keeps persisting that I install the software on a separate disk. I think that would be easy with a desktop like a Mac Pro where you have multiple hard drive bays.
I'm just trying to optimize my mac's performance without jeopardizing it's system drive, which is a WD scorpio black I put in it, and get the best out of it the computer, without ruining anything. (I'm overly anal, I know, it's a curse.)

Is there any way to mute the iPad completely, for real? I'm tired of never being able to open a new program when I need it muted because any given app's settings might require me to turn off the sound separately, even if the iPad is on mute. This is the silliest problem I've ever encountered - there must be a way to mute it system-wide, right?

With my car system, volume 18 with my iPhone maxed is equivelent to around 30 with my Nano - at this volume I have the sound of gentle hissing when paused. Not cool.
I'd say Nano is loud enough for general headphone use, but if there is background noise it's not that loud. If I'm spending for something to house my entire music collection, it can't be second to my phone for music volume. That's just silly.

I got it from the Fantasy Factory event that Rob Dyrdek hosted on Thursday. No I did not go myself :( but I have a friend that went and he said they had lots of copies for everyone that attended. I tried all week to get me a early copy but no luck.
Any of you get a copy early and want to play? And if you did get it early, how? Maybe others wanna get it early

What do you mean by "5K"? I know I could get something worse but this bleed occurs on both sides. The pictures kind of dim it a little bit. My photography skills aren't too great haha. Do you think Apple will replace it for sure or is it kind of chancey? I don't want to drive 30 mins to and 30 mins back for nothing.
5K are refurbs. Ive had 4 5Ks now and they have been pretty bad. The first 2 digits of the serial start with 5K.
Yes, Apple will replace it, trust me. I have gotten mine replaced 3 times for yellow tint on the screen. Call the Apple store first, and talk to them.
Just go in there and tell them that it gets worse while watching movies, or in low light rooms, and they will def replace it.
Edit-I'm not saying to lie, but from my experiences with light bleeding, they DO get worse in low light rooms or when the phone gets hotter from watching videos, ect.

It's not like a hidden thing that iTunes purchases will only play in iTunes or on an iPod - every single person who buys from the store knows this beforehand. The justification is the exact same justification for locking Mac OS X to Apple's hardware. So if you buy from the iTunes store, you have agrred to accept the fact that the file will only play on iPods and iTunes and have no reason to be mad at Apple for this- if you don't like the DRM, don't buy from iTunes: buying the CD and ripping it is always a DRM-free way to get your music on whatever player you should choose.

The problem has now become constant so I moved my computer next to the TV and connected with a MDP to HDMI adapter and tried two different HDMI cables. When I switch the TV to the input I have connected the computer to it says "Retrieving Data" then says "No Signal" When I choose an unused input all I get is "No Signal." I then moved the computer back to the desk and reconnected everything. Since I have the computer set up as an extended desktop between the TV and the desk monitor and I had just connected the computer to only the TV it thought the TV connection was the main monitor and the desk monitor was the secondary. So I turned the TV back on to see if it was getting a signal and it was not. So I unplugged the MDP and I got the desktop back on my monitor. But if I go to system preferences and select Monitors it only sees the desk monitor.
My plan from here is to get another MDP-HDMI adapter and a MDP-DVI adapter. This way and I can swap the adapter going to the TV to see it it is the problem and I can connect my desk monitor to the computer using an MDP. Anyone have any other suggestions?
