Hey everyone!
What is the HTML tag for a comment box, I thought it was this:
<form action="/html/tags/html_form_tag_action. method="get">
Comments:</br>
<textarea rows="3" cols="20"></textarea>
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
</form>
But it does not work when saved as .html. I think I need like a code page or something, but I do not know how to make one, any ideas?
I think I figured out my problem. This action tag is an example, I would have to replace it with the URL path that processes the form tag. So I could replace it with a web host website (if I made an account with a web host that allows CGI). For example action="http://sitename.com/cgi-bin/processForm.cgi." or something like that.

I was getting ready to go to Chinatown (about 30 blocks away from WTC) to meet a Jewish friend from Virginia for his first authentic dim sum experience when I had the urge to check my email first. The New York Times web page loaded horribly slow, and pics didn't come up, but I made out the headline...
...I had no cable, so all television was out except for Channel 2 (CBS), whose antenna was at the Empire State Building. It stayed that way for over a month, I think.

i've been waiting patiently for the refresh and now i'm about to purchase my first iMac, just waiting for it to get to israel, hoping this will happen in the next few weeks.
I currently own an 18 months old macbook pro, and a very old and dying PC which the iMac will replace.
I'm a graphic designer, using adobe cs5 products such as: Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Flash, Dreamweaver and maybe some After Effects in the future. and i work a lot, day and night.
now i'm little confused about which model should i go for
at first i didn't want the 27" cause i thought it was too big, but i figure i will get use to it, plus i really need a lot of work space on screen (currently working on a 19" and hating it).
but is the base 27" model enough for me?
should i upgrade to i7 or will i5 do the work?
and what about the graphics in the base 27?
will be glad if someone helps out and answer my questions
thank you

I did some reading. If you have a jailbroken iPad and a certain app, you can upload the 1.0 optimum.api in a format that's sharable. Since the app is free, I don't see it being an issue of piracy to share it. I have an iPad 2 and there isn't a jailbreak for it yet. So someone with an iPad 1 can upload it.

The MacBook Air and the iPad are the future of portable computing. Thin, light, fast (SSD). Enough power to get the job done, not so much power you need 3 cooling fans and 3 lbs. of battery to do it.
It's not that the MacBook Air is evolving into a mainstream product. It's the mainstream that's evolving into MacBook Air-like products.
Exactly. This is a continuation of the dumbing-down (and I don't mean that in a bad way) of computing. Most people don't need a huge amount of storage or blazing-fast processors. They need a computer for tooling around on the Web, email, basic work tasks like spreadsheets and word processing, and fun tasks like photos and music. If a computer can do all this at a good price, with a very long battery life, and looks great doing it, then it's good enough. Apple was smart to strip out many of the expensive components in order to reduce the price, without reducing functionality for the average user.

Other than a normal shutdown time of about 3 minutes it's been turning off well. I'll just relax and revive this thread if the problem arises more frequently.
If shutdowns normally take a long time, open Activity Monitor to see if you have an app that's hanging. It shouldn't take 3 minutes to shut down under normal circumstances. Also, try closing all apps before shutting down, to see how long it takes.

I didn't lose any. You can force iTunes to get brand new album art for your entire collection. See this (http://theubergeeks.net/2006/09/13/new-album-art/)
Yes, I did know that (but thanks anyway). In fact, I believe it is this particular feature that led to the mysterious disappearance (I think, at least) of album art. From your link:
WARNING: This process will take iTunes quite a while to perform. So do not do it if you dont have time to let it sit and do its thing. Also, do not do this if you have one-of-a-kind album art or you have scanned in album art, or even if you have albums in your collection from local bands that youve spent 8 weeks trying to find album art for them. They will not be found by iTunes get album art feature.
iTunes asked me if I wanted it to search for album art and I stupidly clicked 'yes' thinking it would get the ones I didn't have or fix some of the errors. Oh, well. Cool feature, nonetheless. Also, the "Cover Flow" feature, while cool as well, is quite taxing on my 1 Ghz G4. Something tells me it would be a little smoother on an 8-core Mac Pro. :D

It's a damn shame about not being able to boot off more than one volume that is on the 1880 controller as I ultimately wanted to have 2x 240GB 6G mercury drives each with a different OS in pass through mode, now it looks like I will go for a slightly cheaper SATA2 SSD for the Win 7 install since it will be off the onboard controller.
There's not that many SSD's out yet that can exceed a 3.0Gb/s controller (most reach sustained sequential throughputs of ~250MB/s or so, and 3.0Gb/s is good for ~270 -275MB/s), so you don't need to panic over this.
I suppose I could still RAID0 2x 240GB 6G Mercury drives and use bootcamp to install on a 240GB partition dedicated to Windows 7, but this would be a riskier setup since I would loose access to both OS if the RAID0 played up. The Mac would not have trouble booting two OS off a partitioned RAID0 volume would it?
You won't be able to do this. :(
Boot Camp doesn't work with RAID (hardware or software). So you'll have to use a single disk on the ICH (no need to run the Boot Camp utility, as it's a partition tool). The BC disk does include Windows drivers however (setup.exe), so you may need to run those, particularly for wireless drivers.
You can place the OS X disk either on the ICH or RAID card (flash the firmware, set the disk as the boot location).
The mercury drives do sound reliable though, do you think a RAID0 with the 2x new 6G Mercury's is viable option? Or should I get those RAID edition Mercury drives, what makes them more suitable for RAID anywhere?
The only difference between them is the amount of over-provisioning (additional capacity used for wear leveling; 7% for the Pro series, 28% for the RAID Edition series).
There doesn't seem to be any other differences (same controller and firmware timings from what I can tell). Both have been used successfully in stripe sets on both the ICH and hardware RAID cards. So if you're doing more reads than writes, the Pro series would be fine. If you're going to do a lot of writing (massive amounts of data), then the RE series may be the way to go. Another trick, is not to fill the SSD up all the way.
Nanofrog, could you please tell me what is the special cable that I need to get to use the 2nd SFF-8087 internal port on the Areca 1880 to connect an external enclosure?
1.0 meter SFF-8087 to SFF-8088 cable (http://www.pc-pitstop.com/sas_cables_adapters/8887-1M.asp)

hi guys, i just got a dvd burner and would like to know which program to buy so I can put all my home videos from my digital video cam into DVD-Rs. i just don't know where to start. thanks for your time.
Hi mongoose78, welcome to the forum, you need to give a bit more info about what you are doing, ie what mac /os you are using, and what format your home movies are in rtc
If you have a newish mac it should have come with iLife (http://www.apple.com/ilife/) this would have iMovie for capture & editing & iDVD for creating the DVD. Also search the forum, there are lots of posts on this topic.

They got their value out of Connectix in Virtual Server. Like it or not the Mac stuff was just the tip of the iceberg.
Also, Microsoft made its money not through Virtual PC, but through the Windows license that you had to buy with it. If you buy Parallels, or use Bootcamp, Microsoft loses a few dollars from the Virtual PC sale, but they still get a big chunk of money for the Windows license. I would say 75% of their revenue and 100% of their profit stay intact.

I think they removed it, but according to Andrew Welch (president of Ambrosia Software), "Everything that was free in the older, free WireTap continues to be free in WireTap Pro. You can use it to your heart's content to record AIFF recordings, and never pay for it." If you use other features, an unregistered message is dubbed over your recordings until you register.
Hey folks! Hex Monkey, could you give a link for this quote? I downloaded wiretap pro, but all the documenatation provided suggests that one can only use it for 30 days for free, regardless of what file type one's using...thanks!

Why won't it update to 10.6.7? I am confused.
I assume it's a custom build for the new SB processors. Likely see an update within the next week to bring them all to the same build.

I really don't think Apple will update the Air's with Sandy Bridge.
Here is why, the high resolution display (1440X900) will make the Intel graphics a major downgrade from the 320m in performance. I think the Air will get updated with the next MBP update (2012) and the 13" MBP and MBA become one with Ivy processors. Also at this time I expect the 15" and 17" MBP's to become "Air" like with SSD storage, thinner, and lighter.
I was holding out for the update, but came to this conclusion and made my purchase, which I couldn't be more satisfied with.
I may be wrong, but I would rather have the 320m if they do update it, the Thunderbolt is what will hurt if you use external drives..

I don't know if you are aware of this.... Can't you wait until June/July for the release of Final Cut Pro X (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/13/final-cut-pro-x-demo-nowhere-near-final-version-more-on-final-cut-studio-apps-coming/)? looking at the video demo (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/13/video-of-final-cut-pro-x-introduction-now-available/), it seem's awsome...
Not sure what shortcomings will the X version will have compared to the current FCP Studio, since the price difference is huge.
cheers!
Even though FCPX Was just announced there was no word on the other FCS apps....

I called them twice today, they said they aren't getting any and already got their shipment for the day.
So that means people are standing in line for nothing?
I just went there and they told me the same thing. There was no line.
