I don't know anything about ATA passwords, but one of the expected new features of Lion is whole disk encryption. You might as well wait for that and get it free with the OS and supported by Apple.
I'm aware, but that is months away, and who knows how long it will take for this Filevault re-write to be stable. Since I'm operating as a consultant, I can't necessarily wait for that.
So... no one knows if this is possible?

I think you could also dulicate the track in iTunes and set the "start time" and "stop time" for the song so you have the first part for the first copy of the song and the last part for the second copy of the song. I'm pretty sure when you burn it to CD it'll work just fine. No need for other software with this... unless I misunderstood the question.
To change start/stoptime, click on song, get info (command-I), option, changes values.

At a minimum you'd want a Gigabit Ethernet Switch, and some CAT-5e cables. Over the 30-foot run, CAT-5 cables may work just as well.
If you haven't changed the Network settings on the Mac Pros, they should each pick up a self-assigned IP address as soon as you plug them into the switch, and they'll be able to talk to each other over the wired network.
The problem is that these machines presumably are all on the same wireless network. You want to ensure that the big files travel over the wired network and not the wireless. The default network service order for OS X puts the Ethernet network first, but some folks have observed that this doesn't always work as expected.
Using the self-assigned IP addresses when you open up folders on the remote machines will force the use of the wired network, but it's not as simple as just picking them off the Finder list. It may be worth manually configuring the IP addresses on the wired network if it turns out you have to type them into the Finder's Connect to Server dialog box often.

Thanks, much appreciated. But, dang it, I can't for the life of me figure out how to send a PM. The option just doesn't seem to exist (I know, I must seem like a total n00b).
I think you need at least 5 posts to PM. Maybe more. Get to posting!

You can buy it straight from ATI. That's what I did with mine. I warn you, however, to hold onto your receipt. My X800XT is awesome for games, but it's created a problem in that I can no longer put my computer to sleep.
Are you sure the X800 had anything to do with it? Because I have one and have no problems putting my computer to sleep.

Yes.
The kit includes all the cables needed to connect the disks to a 3rd party card (gets power off of the backplane board <where the disks usually plug into>, and uses a break-out cable to attach the disks data signals to the card). They make room for this via the drive mounts (fit shallower than the stock units to allow for room to plug the data ends into the drives).
cheers.
If using the 1880-ix-12 controller will the non-raid 2x SSD drives in Pass Through mode that I want to attach to the Areca controller be bootable? Does the Areca card at all allow for the system to boot off it or will any attached volumes only initialize once in the OS ?

When I encoded Tron Legacy I ended up clicking on the Picture Settings at the top after selecting the iPad preset and changed cropping from Auto to Custom. From there I adjusted cropping settings down to 0 which gave me a resolution of 1024x576. During playback when there are 2.35.:1 scenes, there are lighter black bars due to the actual resolution of the video, but during the IMAX scenes those bars aren't there (of course the "iPad's" black bars are still there due to it's 4:3 screen). So basically the encode stays at 1.78:1 the whole time with "extra" black bars for the 2.35:1 scenes.
I never checked on the chapters option so I'm not sure on that.Bingo. You are The Man. Using the cropping option to set all to zero resulted in a 1024 x 576 movie with black bars during the 2.35:1 scenes.
Thanks! :)

Thank you Fivepint, I needed a good laugh.
Taxes are the price you pay for the privelege of earning money. If the cost of government is X, then the revenue collected should equal X. If one party *cough* GOP *cough* cuts revenue so much that we end up with a debt that equals Y, then you must cut spending and increase revenue so that you can pay X plus some of Y to eventually eliminate the debt.
If the people who benefited the most from the cuts now have all the wealth and make all the income, they are going to have to pay a higher share of the increases in X. That's just how it is.
You can't expect the poor to pay what they don't have, and you can't kill the middle class.

Is this worth taking to Apple? I arrowed the problem areas in the photos. The screen is an IPS panel, which has amazing viewing angles. But when looking at the screen from even a slight angle left or right, I see a band of white light along the edge. It's on the other edge (left edge of screen) too but that edge is slightly harder to see. It's more apparent on the right edge, towards the top and it tapers down to the bottom. This was a replacement unit when my prior iPhone's home button stopped working. I checked my friends' iPhone 4s and the screen is even under various viewing angles.

Make that touch-sensitive bezel out of black anodised aluminium and you'd have a top notch product.

Hi, can anyone help me, I've tested a small site in every other browser and it looks fine but IE is shifting my vertical nav bar way off to the right!?? Im scripting it on a mac so I have to keep moving to pc to see how it looks but I cant seem to fix it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Would be much easier to give you advice if we could see the site in question, it could be any number of things.
Also, what version of IE are you testing with? They all have their own quirks.

I was getting ready for work. My wife called me to the living room and we watched the news and saw the second tower get hit. I went to work, and everyone was watching the TV. There were a lot of tears. At that moment I knew that we were going to war. I just couldn't go back to work. I was amazed at everyone who just went to their cubicles and acted like work was important on a day like that.
I'm on my second deployment for the war, and nothing will ever be the same for me or my family.

Same VGA cable each time? How long? Old? New? Does the VGA cable itself work wih other devices as expected?
Could also be bad mini-DP to VGA converter.
Thankyou for the reply.
The VGA cable is integrated in the miniDP-VGA adapter, about one meter long. But i've tried with an apple adapter + VGA cable that i usally use with my PC, same problem... :( I tried on a Mbacbook pro 13' and there is no problem..
Sounds like that 9400m video card is crappy.. or at least mine.. :(

and to the other guy: What does MR mean?
MR is MacRumors
The last Apple ads that I liked were the Think Different ads with Alfred Hitchcock & Co. And before that, the Charles Chaplin ads. That tells me a lot about how much Apple changed and with them their target audience.
Very true. The Think Different were great when Apple wanted to appeal to a niche market, then the iPod + iTunes ads were great when they wanted to build the iPod brand name (if you notice you don't really find out anything about the iPod in that ad, and it takes a little intuition to even realize that it's an mp3 player).
The main focus of their ads now is iPhone and iPad because they can appeal to the largest audience, and the most likely people to switch from PC to Mac on their home computers are people who have bought an Apple accessory (really anything with an i before the name) and have become familiar with the Apple brand.
