I've always heard that the Zune was a good device, but Microsoft just did an abysmal job at marketing.
This is true. A lot of people are talking trash about the devices but I doubt anyone as ever used one. To me the UI was much more concise than the iPod, the hardware was very high quality (sound from the headphone port was far superior to what the iPod outputs) and the Zune Marketplace has a nice "recommended" music software. In the end, it was poor implementation and the Apple freight train that made the Zune fail.
I don't know why people are happy about this though. Do you really only want one music player in the market? No one wants a choice? How about competition? Competition is what drives companies to innovate. I really want some company to come out with a product that pushes Apple to an even higher level of innovation. So far no one has done it.

^to the above posts, thanks for the offers but I really don't care for celeron too much either, and the T61 would be way over my budget.
Thanks for all of the replys & PMs, I have found a Powerbook g4 from a forum member and I purchased an IBM T40 on ebay.

You could do without the RAID-card altogether and just install 4 drives in the bays in the Mac Pro and use the ZFS filesystem (http://code.google.com/p/maczfs/) to make a dynamic stripe in RAID-Z, so you will get RAID-5 like performance but with better protection and data integrity.
Unfortunately, Apple ditched their development on ZFS, so no ZFS love for the Mac Pro and OS X.
If you chose FreeBSD or OpenSolaris, there is little point in buying a Pro in the first place as you can get better boxes for less for that kind of requirement.

Of course a touchscreen is better for racing, that's why all F1 cars have touchscreens instead of steering wheels nowadays ;)
Anyway look at the Xperia play for a true "convergance" device. Actual controllers AND a smartphone and it emulates a Playstation (and it's legal!! )

So use some of the 185 sources listed at the bottom of Apple's Wikipedia page.
Alternatively, ask what the point of this particular assignment is. Your class's assignments could all be done by your professor in about 5 minutes each; "History of [company]".

For Toy Story 3 coming out this week, I wanted to take advantage of the ATV drives that the Iconfactory put out. I'm hoping they put out a few more, but these are kind of cool for the time being.

That's what I thought. I'll have to sit here patiently and hope someone can help. Thanks for the offer ;)
Once the iPad 2 is jailbroken I can help you out. This weekend I bought a Sprint 4G MiFi just so I can watch LiveTV. Sprint 4G data is unlimited and over 4G LiveTV doesn't freeze or skip. I'm holding onto to the 1.0 app like gold!!!

Let's hope they are trying to patent multiple ideas. I hate to say it, that looks just plain ugly and complicated. I love the ipod for is it's simpllicity. This looks like a mess. To each his/her own.

So questions about the sensors on the 2010 Mac Mini.
Are the 2 sensors on the hard drive the same part.
Being the idiot that I am, I broke the sensor that mounts on the hard drive its self. I have been looking for a part number or part to order and the only thing I can come up with is
Apple Part #: 076-1360
****After 45 minutes with a call center in India they are saying the sensor is part number 076-1369...any thought?
Now this sensor is the one that mounts on the sata conector...any ideas if it will work for the back as well?
My fan is running at a constant speed ot 5500rpm....at least I know it will stay cool.
Oh and by the way, I replaced my stock Toshiba 320gb 5400rpm drive with a Hitachi 7k5...WOW amazing upgrade. I clocked a direct copy of a file that was 2.29gb and the Toshiba was 2min55sec and the Hitachi did it in 1min1sec... 2 minutes FASTER!
I need help ASAP as this is my main machine right now.

They don't look italicized to me unless I am looking in the wrong place.
Oh my bad, I didn't clarify! It's the links and fourm topic on the main page of macrumors. I'll check tonight on my Mac and see if it's just the (PoS) PC I'm using.

That's $456,250.00 a quarter.
Yeah, I can see that's where the majority of Apple's profit this last quarter came from. $546,000,000.
By your estimate, that's less than one tenth of one percent (<0.1%) of Apple's profits. Hardly a cash cow. Even if you underestimated by a full magnitude, it's not that impressive.
$1.8 mil/year may seem like alot to you or me that makes less than $50k/year, but to a company that does over $15,000,000,000.00 in sales a year it's little more than a drop in the bucket.
I did not say they were making a half cent on each sell, i said I could only dream of pocketing a half cent on each sell personally. I an not such an idiot to think 1.8 mil annually is enough for a company with $10 Billion in cash reserves to to be interested in . The point I was attempting to make, is small numbers with big multipliers are IMPORTANT and a revenue stream of greater importance than acknowledged. Further to my point it has been acknowledged by Jobs and his critics that the reason the iPod is a huge is because it is part of a complete system. Loose iTunes and you loose the dominance of the iPod, just ask the folks at Creative. Pennies on the dollar, or dimes on the dollar, iTunes is a big business supporting a much bigger business. Remember before iTunes and the iPod you could not shut the Apple doom sayers up and Apple stock was something someone making $50K a year could buy without dipping into the savings account. Apple wasn't a player in the personal electronics business either.

They seem to stop after the first issue, especially if the first issue is bad enough. If the app crashes, they can't look much farther. However a small number of developers have reported Apple rejecting an app and giving more than one reason. Don't count on it.

You're supposed to pay tax on your profits (not sales totals) from selling on eBay or other venues.Does ebay send you a form to show you how much you earned or are sellers responsible on their own?

I'm in favour of this move. CDs were great (along with cassette tapes and LPs) because you could play them in any CD player and you could buy the CDs themselves from any shop. For some odd reason we don't get this with MP3 players and I do think that's anti-competitive. If I want to move to a different MP3 player or buy my music from another store to use on my iPod then that should be my choice and Apple should have to accept that. At the moment I am quite happy with my first iPod (aside from the frequent crashes when playing podcasts...) but if I decide to change to something else that is Mac compatible and beats the iPod then I don't want to have to re-purchase my iTunes music that I have bought. If DVD Jon has a way to allow reasonable consumer choice then FairPlay to him.
I have no wish to see Apple get walloped by the competition but the sort of consumer freedom that this offers should keep them honest since if they **** up then we can move some place else.

Agreed, but the latest nano is pretty poor, was surprised, seems very unapple-like. There is room for a good ultra portable small music player (gyms etc, I see so many ipods) and for them to please, please make a good quality headphone as standard, the ones that come with ipods (of any price) is pathetic. So, let's see what they do.
Why should they make good quality headphones? Seriously, I really don't think that makes any sense for apple or the consumer. Just think about it. Anyone who is serious about getting a nice music listening experience with their iPods will buy some good headphones or did already anyway. So when apple adds high quality headphones to their ipod line (making every ipod cost like 50 EUR more) everyone who already has headphones they like very much (For example I bought some Shures for 100 EUR) would be very very pissed off at buying useless headphones for 50 EUR they never wanted to buy.
As much as I see that a high quality product such as the iPod classic is bundled with something as cheap as the apple earbuds, I just don't want to be forced in buying an expensive headphone which I probably won't like (sound or comfort). Imagine buying a new amplifier for your hifi system and they come bundled with what the producer thought were okay speakers.
Just wanted to clarify that one as this is a very common complain about the iPod line which I just don't see at all.

When open in MPEG Streamclip (click "open anyway" when file isnt recognized), click "stream info" - what does it say?
Edit: BTW to be precise - sadly theres no easy free fix I know :-/ Check this out http://imnotbruce.blogspot.com/2009/07/fixing-corrupted-quicktime-files.html

You can buy an enclosure and put whatever hard drive you want in it. A good enclosure should be able to keep the hard disk cool.
I can't suggest specific enclosures, but I do know that the Western Digital Caviar Black is a hard disk with a good reputation.
