so you brought the 500mzh motherboard and just stuck it in, and it worked fine cool
;)
Assuming this works, you still won't be able to run Rise of Nations since the 500MHz iMac has a 16MB Rage Ultra - you need a 32MB video card.

I followed instructions that I came across on the internet to reinstall mac os x as I just got an iMac second hand.
Was not given the option to 'Erase and install' and instead followed through the install and now things are not working properly.
I noted down that it was OS X 10.1.5 now it is OS X 10.1.2.
When I start up it only shows the display and the time in the top right corner. Will not display dock or finder.
Please help! What can I do to fix this?

mac mini's are cheaper and faster than mini ITX pc's so they have taken over their market, a G4 obliterates a VIA cpu.Yeah, I'm REALLY hard pressed to build my own Mini-ITX to play with Linux when I can but a refurb Mac Mini for less and with more power.

Hi Ottawa iPad people -- I'm a journalism student at Carleton and I want to know what you think of the new iPad. I'm going to be down at the Rideau Centre tomorrow morning with some film equipment and a couple classmates, so look out for us! If you want to give me a shout/text ahead of time, my number is 613-816-8573. Some of our video work ends up on http://centretownnewsonline.ca/ so check it out if you have the chance. Have fun with your new device.

I just did clean installs on two 2011 MBPs. I'll mention what i did when I transferred my information , because for once everything turned out well. The data was on a HD removed from a dead MBP that was running 10.5.
I upgraded the old HD in firewire enclosure to 10.6 and ran all updates on it. I then ran the app CleanApp (http://www.syniumsoftware.com/cleanapp/) to remove programs from the old drive I didn't want any more. Migration agent was used transfer the applications. It appears 3rd party apps have the registration code transferred, but Pages asked for a reg. no.
With iTunes, i deleted the iTunes folder in Music on the new HD and then copied over the old iTunes folder. This worked and preserved all metadata.
edit- i should mention that Migration agent made a mess of transferring itunes. This could have been because i had my music files away from where itunes would normally find it. Before swapping itunes folders, I moved and renamed a few files so that both itunes folders matched.

By no problem, do you mean that you feel no difference between 10.6 an 10.7?
Well the cursor is not as fast as in Windows, but it's managable.
It means that the cursor movement is not linear to the mouse movement. Google it and you will see that it's a huge issue for people that want to game on their Macs, especially for Windows switchers that are not used to it. The worst part is that there is no setting in OS X to remove it.
Here are two images that illustrate it (from a 3rd party software that removes the acceleration)
Without this program: http://triq.net/files/gallery/snip2.png With this program: http://triq.net/files/gallery/snip1.png
I am begging Lion to have an option to turn mouse acceleration off. I've tried most of these 3rd party programs, and they don't really help. It really affects how well you can play RTSs and FPSs. Please, Apple, just give up an option like Windows does!

First of all, since you've said that you're not a designer and that it's going to be silkscreened, have you talked to your screen printer about setting the artwork up properly? It should be a two colour job to keep costs down and should be done in either InDesign/Quark or Illustrator in spot colours. An RGB or CMYK large format bubblejet may prove more costly at that quantity at a lower quality.
The first thing I look at is type and the biggest problem you have here is the tiny size of the web address. It's simply not legible or clear at that size. Apart from that I'm not sure where to start as there's a lot going on in there. My impulse would be to simplify it, the little touches like the leaves and the mains plug, add to a sense of disorganisation. Personally, I'd start with a solid green and leave off the white swash at the bottom unless that's a critical part of the branding. Then, I'd try to stick to just one typeface; you've got some Futura and some Impact or some other black condensed sans in there... I'd stick to one typeface, one symbol of electronic waste, one leaf. Keep it simple.
There's an awkward empty space top right which makes it feel unbalanced. The arrow also looks like an afterthought, squeezed in into the lower right hand corner. My main feeling is that you've overworked it and it's become a bit of a clutter. If you make some changes, I'll be happy to provide more feedback.

Just to clarify, this is the 2407WFPb revision A03. It is the original version and better than the 2407WFP-HC. The 2407WFPb is better suited for graphic designers.

Ugh Quicktime is terrible and needs to die. I dislike it almost as much as I disliked realplayer back in the late 90's.
Really? Quicktime is pretty amazing for professional filmmaking. The Quicktime X player sucks though.

Are you wanting just one world-editable article each week, or a few? I think having about 5 per week would be more advantageous since a single article represents such a small portion of the Guides, and we have enough people to watch over changes. There are only so many improvements that can be made to one article, so a week seems like a long time to focus on a single page. Take for example the Aperture article, which has only had one change in the last 6 days yet has been the only featured guide during that period.
Finally, would there be a set time each week for the article selection to change, and would it be just you or all the sysops choosing them? If the latter, would there be prior discussion as to which articles to select (eg in the WorldEdit talk page), or would sysops just add articles without consultation?
I think 5-7 articles a week would be great to have world-editable.
I think that Tuesday would be... a fitting day to change the guides. And talking about them first would be MUCH better than random addition. :)
(Yeah, this is an old thread, but I've been in Israel for the past 10 days...)

Put me in line, if not first in line pending pics. I would like a machine of these specs. Consider me a serious buyer if there is no serious damage.

Viva la Revolution :)
The more I think about it, the more it seems the DS was actually the "revolution" Nintendo was promising. It's pretty much the gaming platform right now, dominates sales charts on each continent etc... It was Nintendo's first steps towards bringing in the non-gamer, the Wii is more like the exclamation point to the DS's first sentence. The Wii really is just a console DS in so many ways. To sell almost 7 million units in the 5 months it has been out is incredible, especially given the lack of games, online play, HD etc. Looks like a console DS to me! It's like the NES or PS1 all over again.

Would/Could these chips end up in the single cpu MPs? Do they support Thunderbolt? I am struggling to find any concrete information.
They are Xeon versions of the latest Core i5 and Core i7 processors. Basically the same as those found in the new iMacs, but with ECC memory support. They won't be used in the Mac Pro - the highest end of these will almost be as powerful as the bottom end of the upcoming LGA 2011 processors.

I guess I meant to say that "Apple Software" shouldn't be the *only* category something, say iTunes, should be in.
[[Category: Audio]]
[[Category: Apple Software]]
that's just fine with me. I'm merely trying to avoid requiring that a new user know that "GarageBand" is Apple software, when all he may be interested in is some new Audio app to play around with.

I've been using the android release for about a week. Good app.
Off topic, I thought Adobe was "teh suck" around these parts with no programming talent whatsoever?
Or does that opinion only apply to Flash?
