Call me shallow (and lazy!) but it would be nice if you could post a few pics to go along with your review.

Well I may just be a fool but I thought that all WD hdds had the same connector pins. I've just taken apart my mbp only to find the (SATA?) connector inside is a different type than the WD's.
I'm just curious is there something I was missing that should have warned me that this would happen? Is there a way I can modify the WD so that I can make it my internal HDD?
That's all I really want.
My MBP:
15 inch Unibody (late 2008)
My WD:
WD10TMVV
I think this is it but mine is black.
http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=450
Thank you in advance!
On a side note this is an extremely solid external drive and I recommend it to anyone who needs a reliable terrabyte.

VLC 1.1.8 PowerPC (http://sourceforge.net/projects/vlc/files/1.1.8/macosx/vlc-1.1.8-powerpc.dmg/download)
I found it in 2 seconds on the site. VLC is better than Movist by far. Movist is really just a different QT player and uses entirely too much CPU IMO.

Who's the prick downrating your posts...?!
A friend of mine runs a small animation business. He does lots of rendering, which is apparently extremely CPU-intensive. If that's what you'll be doing, as DG has said, the i7 might give you something extra. But if you're working on stills, I think the i5 is fine.
i have no idea, that's weird.
about the rendering, i'm not working with animation or 3D so there will be no rendering. maybe just a little video with After Effects but just from time to time.. i don't really use it on a regular basis.
and thanks for your quick reply

Fivepoint, I do wish you would stop it with the sensational and inaccurate threads. If not for our sake, yours. They are intentionally designed to bait and inflame.
Lee, I'm sorry... but the definition of 'sensational' is not the same as 'anything Lee disagrees with'. Would you call the thread started today by rdowns called "Mike Huckabee... and American Dick" sensational? How about the one called "Wisconsin Public workers stand up to Republicans." I find that one pretty sensational. Grow up.
May I also ask why you're not confident enough with your own views to answer the poll? Also, what exactly is 'innacurate' with my thread?

Just please never give me a parallax 3D screen on my iPhone, or it'll induce vomiting. Until I can walk around in a 3D world and my brain doesn't know the difference between that virtual world and the real one, please let me stick with 2D!

Thanks! Yes, I have lowered them and get about 15 fps on both games. I guess I can live with that considering the resolution is a step above playing these games through something like Onlive which is kind of janky on wifi and muddy graphics.

I use an Epson Workforce 1100 with Cobra Ink pigment CISS installed from Cobra. I really do love it. Went with the 50ml tanks and got a full set up their 100+ml refill bottles. Quality wise its good and I am happy with it. The cobra system installed and filled by them is WELL worth the money, no need to run the lines yourself, or fill and bleed the tanks.

Beyond that, I would try creating a new admin account (or logging in as one if you already have it) and using Software Update. It'd be an interesting test to see if the problem is relegated to your user or is a system-wide problem.
You know, I was going to try the new admin trick, but when I went to set one up, I could only create a standard user. I have to look at the help docs to see how to create a new admin. It was late and I was tired when I was trying to do this last night. I am still scratching my head over how it could have happened to both the laptop and desktop at about the same time.
Weird.
Thanks for your help,
Rob

Aw I'm disappointed they removed it. I liked it!
I watched it twice.
I'm sure they got some complaints about it. Even though I really liked it, I think it was a bad decision by apple.

Have a look here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451 it gives a few pointers on troubleshooting iTunes including instructions how to rebuild library. I had a similar issue with iTunes 9, when I could not add music to slideshows. Did a library rebuild and all worked well. Just as a first step, have you checked in Disk Utility for disk errors and rebuilt file permissions recently?

I went into the Irvine Spectrum store last Thursday and they had 32gigs. Picked one up on the spot. Best Buy and Radio Shack are still waiting for theirs.

Hi, I will not be camping out, however I am disabled and wonder if their nwill be a (special Line) for people that have disabled (PLACARDS). Also, does anyone know how long the pre reservation lines will be and how fast they will move, base on like (person #43) who is in line? Also, my reservation says 7 am, but could there be like a 1000 customers in the reservation line at 7 am? I'm just trying to get a (CLEAR UNDERSTANDING) of how long I will be in line because of my disability. Please let me know from past experiance.

I've not read it, but I'v heard of Scott Thompson, R. (2006) Quartz 2D graphics for Mac OS X developers (http://www.amazon.com/Quartz-2D-Graphics-Mac-Developers/dp/0321336631/).

Wow. that was Win98, right? Heck, OS 8.6 was out then and it did fine with USB... Win98 didn't even AFTER they shipped it.

I don't know if it's the brand or not, but I wouldn't use anything but Toyo Yuden. (Premium Line - haven't tried Value Line)
Try burning a music or video disc. Ignore any errors. Play it back.

Went to BestBuy today and had a sales person tell me not to buy a mini but get an imac........he said the speed was too slow compaired to the imac. Also that by the time I paid for mouse, monitor, keyboard I would have the same about of money invested. Just wanted some opinions?
Thanks

Completely misleading. iPad runs a mobile OS that's much less CPU intensive. The iPad is not five times slower in performing everyday tasks like web browsing, e-mail, word processing, etc.
I agree with you that for many of us who need only light use at work every day, the iPad is every bit the competitor to a lightweight net book type of device.
With these kinds of light, but urgent needs, the iPad can be a lot quicker to use than a netbook. It powers up instantly and allows you to to work quickly, then shuts down easily and quickly to allow you to get on with whatever else it was that you were doing in the field.
I'm not saying it replaces a net book or laptop for all of us or even most of us, but if your main purpose on a particular day makes carrying a heavier device difficult, or you are in the field and need something ultimately portable and sturdy, the iPad is a great thing to have around.
We're lucky we have so many great products to pick from, whether you're in the Apple camp or somebody else's camp.

This is in line with the iPhone life cycle.
2007 - iPhone (the Apple Beta)
2008 - iPhone 3G - Complete Redesign (or, IMHO, the "real" launch)
2009 - iPhone 3GS - Modest update
2010 - iPhone 4 - Complete redesign
2011 - iPhone 4.5 - Modest update
2012 - iPhone 5 - Complete redesign. (or at least, significant overhaul.)
iPad, iPod Touch & iPod Nano follow this curve. I feel like we can expect a revolutionary new device every 2 years, and a modest upgrade in between.
What? The iPhone 3G was not a "Complete Redesign". Internally, it used the same CPU, RAM and chipset as did the iPhone 1. The only difference was the addition of a 3G radio, GPS and a plastic curved back; hardly a "Complete Redesign". Internally, the 3GS was a compete redesign, not a "Modest update"
Also, these are the internal codes for the iPhone, where the new first number is a complete revision and the second number is an update on an existing design.
iPhone 1: 1,1
iPhone 2 (3G): 1,2
iPhone 3 (3GS): 2,1
iPhone 4: 3,1
