Just in case anybody is interested...
I made a simple CoreImage test app to try and get to grips with CoreImage. It's not very advanced but it can do a number of effects and is fun to play with.
I need somebody to host it for the moment because I'm away from my webserver so if anybody can do that then it will be available for download.
Requires a CoreImage compatible graphics card that is Quartz2DExtreme capable. Works nice and smoothly on my 17" Powerbook (Most recent gen).

I've heard from AppleInsider that TRIM is long due to the macs and that Apple will enable TRIM support in Lion update...
After I've installed an Intel x25-m G2 SSD onto my 2010 MBP 13", the benchmarks were low compared to that on Windows platform. I also noticed the Apple's own stock SSD (mostly Toshiba or Samsung) have aggressive GC, but their read/write speeds are off compared to many decent SSD's on the market, like sandforce powered OCZ Vertex 3, or intel G3.
Funny thing is that Apple's own solid state drives has their own GC, and enables TRIM on-the-fly, as reported by Anandtech, but I wasn't very sure.
Has anyone have any ideas if and when TRIM will be implemented on macs, since it is really needed for people with SSD's in their macs?

Here's the situation...
Going to a party. The room has power, but the house does not have internet (believe it or not...), and the area doesn't really get strong cell/data signals.
Are there any speakers that I can simply plug into a power outlet (or use batteries) and then can talk to my iPhone (or MacBook) wirelessly/bluetooth, and the sound can fill a room maybe 45ft x 60ft (doesn't have to be super loud like a concert, more like background music). I would like there to be 2 (or more) speakers in the room so everyone can hear clearly. Portable speakers with an iPhone dock (like a Base SoundDock or or Logitech S715) I don't think will cut it - I don't want to have to have it cranked up by some people just to folks on the other side of the room can hear ok.
Fine if I have to get something to plug into the iPhone/laptop, or some main "controller" unit that I have to plug into them that then talks to the speakers. Basically I'm envisioning something like a Sonos S5 that doesn't require an internet connection (which it seems to from all the material I have read). I'm flexible on dollars - just can't have any cords running across the room. Or like a Jawbone JAMBOX, but have the ability to set up 2+ speakers at the same time (doesn't have to be stereo, which I'm not sure would even be possible anyways).
Thanks so much everyone!! :apple:

no and i have no idea how to do that. terminal is a bit intimidating.
im using Verizon DSL. Im connected to a wireless router.
Ok, just thought I'd ask. You can certainly experiment with it. Open Terminal and type ftp. Type the name of the server, your username and password and play around a bit. Type help once you get logged into your server and take a look at the put and mput commands (they're for uploading files). It's ugly, but it works and may be a good workaround until you resolve your GUI issues.
Just a thought, you can read up on how to use Terminal in help or online. I'll refrain of typing up some huge confusing instruction set on how to do it since it's not really your first choice here.

Might get the second, i've heard great things about i7. Also i've heard wifi is better on MB because the aluminum interferes on the MBP?
With a MBP you get a newer processor that won't be outdated nearly as fast as a C2D. You also get thunderbolt. It may not mean anything to you now since there are not that many thunderbolt devices but there will be in the future, and you get a better graphics card in a MBP than in the MB. You get Intel HD 3000 in the MBP and NVIDIA Geforce 320M in the MacBook. The Intel has 384MB whereas the NVIDIA has 256MB

What kind of movie would you be watching where it would be useful to be hands free? :p
BAHAHAHA!!!! :D Priceless reply!
Don't know if I'd ever buy or use it, but you have to hand it to the guy for marketing it. It's like something I'd see at my kid's science fair! :p

I'm a great fan of Ruby myself. Check out MacRuby (http://www.macruby.org/) which runs directly on top of the Objective-C runtime, not via a bridge. Check out Aimonetti, Mark (2011?) MacRuby : the definitive guide, O'Reilly (http://oreilly.com/catalog/0636920000723/). It's still in early release, due for final release in July.

The iPhone 4 was a failure at launch. The antenna is broken. It drops Internet connections and calls if held a certain. The glass claiming to be strong is weak sauce and the only good things on the phone are the cameras and screen.*
Am I the only one who feels this way?
Yep, think so :)
I also live in a rural area, and with my measly 1-2 bars of 3g, I rarely drop a call and get 1.1-2.0 mbps download speeds. My phone has been perfect.

I used the V400 for a while. We didnt get a long to well. It was fine, the battery life was fine for me. Nothing un reasonable. 3-4 days is what I got. I seemed rather slow n sluggish at times. It also scratches very easier. Then my backlight died on it. ( Just one day went out.) I went into Cingular and they gave me a new one on the spot.
I was done with the phone though, and bought a V600 at the same time. (sold the new V400 on ebay) It much more durable IMO opinion.
I've since bought a V3.
All in all its a good phone. Nothing special IMO. but solid. So you would recomend the v600 over the v400 as far as battery life and quality?
