Heres the thing the new wireless spectrum actually is WiMax, to those who don't know what WiMax is, pretty much some people say its WIFI on steroids. Also the fact that if Tmobile is talking to apple it may have to do not only with Iphones but laptops. Wimax works in a way that you can have broadband connections up to 75mbps. So if Tmobile is talking to Apple they are probably going to design a chip or something so that people who buy apple then sign on to Tmobile and will have access to the internet with extremely high speeds anywhere in the US. :) What Tmobile is doing has more to do with Laptops than it would with Phones. Think of it on WiMax you can have IPTV and VOIP running and still surf the net. Not only that Intel and Motorola invested over 1 billion into Clearwire, INTEL IS designing new chips for WIMAX. I dont think this has to do with the Iphones.
Yep, years ago when our 3G network was going in down here they had a big "firesale" on the remaining skerricks of bandwidth. Some upstart internet companies bought it and are making a killing in wireless broadband internet access. It's easier to set up and you can access it all over the city and it's pretty quick too. The companies have limited the download speeds to around 1.5mbps so they can get more people on but that's not too bad when you consider you can be anywhere in the city and have internet access.

Those 2 mentioned were the lower default resolutions and I believe the others were 1280 x 720, 1280 x 768, 1368 x 768. I like the 1280 x 720 but most recent games only get maybe 8 - 15 fps at that resolution.
Then you are out of luck :( 1280x720 is 16:9 but it is understandable that the MBA can't run the newest games at that resolution. Have you turned all other settings to as little as possible?

That's because touchscreen interfaces are still a new thing and it's going to take time and trial-and-error to figure out how to best use it for gaming. We're already seeing little moments of brilliance here and there. Have you tried Super MonkeyBall or Myst on iPad? They're right at home--better than in their original platforms.
But most game companies aren't looking at that yet. Right now, we're dealing with a lot of game companies wanting to impose virtual buttons or joysticks on the screen, which IMO, is a kludge. But then a game like Angry Birds comes along and it's a huge hit because they work with the hardware instead of trying to tie it down to the old way of doing things. Imagine playing Angry Birds on a console. What a painful experience that would be. And yet on a touchscreen, it's a pure joy.
Give it time. This touchscreen gaming thing has just started, and it will continue getting better as game companies figure out how to work with the hardware instead of fighting it.
Touchscreen has just started but it ultimately is flawed.
Tactile feedback is very important in real gaming*. There are options out there for tactile touchscreens but Apple appear to not want to implement them. As I said before too your fingers cover up the gameplay. The DS circumvents this by having replacement buttons and precision touchscreen control on the lower screen and the action remains on the top screen.
*And yes I do agree - something like Angry Birds does not work well on consoles. However Metal Gear Solid 4, Fallout 3, Team Fortress 2 etc... they also don't work on touchscreens. And if we had to pick one or the other - I'd have to side with those more full, complex games.
It's not as if every game and genre can be translated to touchscreens, and I imagine there are many more genres more suitable to physical controls than there are genres suitable to touch controls.
That's all really. iOS gaming is fun for queues and on the bus, but when it comes to sitting down at night with a good handheld game... out comes the PSP or DS (or GBA).

Have you tried testing location? Some locations are better than others for wireless. Perhaps the Mini is just in a bad location.
That's not the issue. The Mini holds its wireless connection just fine. You can see it on the networks and it can see other computers. It's not loosing its wireless connection.
But after a while, it can't access the internet. I don't think loosing the internet when it maintains its wireless connection is a location issue.
Besides, the Mini is used as a media centre so it has to be near the tv in the living room.

Hi, I run Snow Leopard natively on my MBP, and have installed Windows 7 on bootcamp.
So, i boot into Win7 and i can read files on my Mac partition but i cant edit/ write to them.
I was wondering if there was any way to edit/write files on Mac partition while being in Win7 partition.
I've done my search and found MacDrive to be an option, but it costs a lot where i'm from. Are there any free alternatives?
Thanks :)

MacTheKnife errr TheGayBlad has posted is latest NMR report and this one seems to spill a whole lot of beans... Some of the best quotes are quoted below.
http://www.macedition.com/nmr/nmr_20020914.php
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The heretofore-unspoken name of IBMs G4 Replacement is GPUL (short for GigaProcessor UltraLite). It is Multi-core, 64-bit Microprocessor that supports Vector/SIMD Multimedia eXtension (VMX), the generic Title for the Technologies comprising Altivec (a k a Velocity Engine).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looks like that name that Moki was using over on the AI boards now has an official meaning! GPUL is the internal name of that new IBM PPC that is gonna be presented at the Microprocessor Forum next month!!! Wait it gets even more interesting...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Most Worthy CPU also being fine-tuned to work with the Apple Processor Interconnect bus (ApplePI), Apples Replacement for the venerable MaxBus. Mac OS X is already booting happily on Prototype Units.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
ApplePI?!?!? I know I've heard that codename used before but it had to be 8 or 9 months ago now... Well seems like that codename too now has 'real meaning' Apple Processor Interconnect an (assumed) high speed replacement for the MaxBus... Something that many think is holding us back and it now seems that Apple agrees.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alas, GPUL does not appear to be in the Cards for Januarys Generation of Apple Systems. IBM had Mac OS X running on GPUL by November was delivering Prototypes to Apple by March of this Year, and was testing prototype Mac Hardware Systems and core Apple Application Software by April. Nevertheless,
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I didn't want to hear that part but it can't be all good news all the time... But it sure was nice to read the confirmation on a few codenames that have been floating around for a while now.
Also if it's true that the 1st prototypes for this CPU were in Apples hands back in March 2002 and Apple was already testing initial prototype systems only a month later then come MacWorld NY or maybe even before we should finally see the GPUL err G5 CPU!
TGB isn't your 3rd rate rumor monger who will post anything and everything that hits his mailbox and what he does post is usually pretty level headed and turns out to be true... Needless to say most of his rumors are NOT the juiciest tidbits you've ever read (no 3Ghz quad processors nor iWalk crud) but in this case that's a really good thing...
Cause to me this be one juciest rumor I've seen in a while! (one that I can trust anyway)

For those that get there early, keep us updated on the lines and stock!
You mean you'll be there at those times Friday or Thursday?

Maybe sell the parts (SSD an MBP) separately.
Mac2Sell (http://www.mac2sell.net), Gazelle (http://www.gazelle.com) or eBay (Việt Nam (http://chodientu.vn/ebay), Trkiye (http://www.gittigidiyor.com/), Česk republika (http://www.eim.ebay.cz/), Hanguk (http://www.auction.co.kr/default.html)) might be good price checkers.

My university's tech department uses several of THESE (http://www.newertech.com/products/charger_cond.php) to charge their library loaner Macbook batteries between checkouts. I asked them about it once as I was having the need to keep two batteries charged. Said that it helps with conditioning as well.

This is just out today. HTC Thunderbolt outsold iPhone at Verizon. There's goes your cute little theory.
Make no mistake, this is an amazing quarter for Apple, but it's not the only one doing well in the smartphone boon.
You quoted a BGR story on a sourceless report from ITG, good show. I can throw up a blog and claim just the opposite if it makes you feel better.
The iPhone was the #1 selling phone (not smart phone) in 2010. You are getting excited that in its launch month a brand new phone might have outsold one that is almost a year old?

People seem to keep forgetting:
E911 support on cellphones is handled via a built in GPS receiver. Usually users don't know its there, and cannot access it.
This sounds like the iPhone.
E911 GPS: Check
GSM: Check
Music: Check
Camera: Check
Not huge news. The only thing it tells us is the limitation most providers put in place regarding what the GPS is available for is removed.
