Cablevision has a login for the iPad app to log into their network and watch LiveTV. But it looks for you to be on your home network for it to work. The VPN software requires a name and password to connect to the VPN server. That is the name and password I created in the instructions above.
I get 6Megs upload from home. Why is your so slow? That doesn't sound right. You have TW internet?
I checked with TW and that is the upload speed. If I had an alternative then I would switch.

The games cost the companies millions to develop on each platform, and it is their intellectual property in the first place. Adding DRM to someone else's music takes a push of a button.
Which costs tens millions to operate and to license. Keep in mind that it's not any given music service which elects to use DRM, it's the recording companies that insist upon it. The reason why Fairplay is relatively lenient compared to other schemes is that it is locked down to a narrow set of compatible devices. You can copy your music to any number of iPods, for example--which goes far beyond "fair use" under the law. Win some, lose some.
I don't get your logic there at all. As I've just said, DRMd media isn't the same as software. If I didn't want a dominant Sony Walkman 20 years ago, I bought a Panasonic and my tapes still played. If I decided my Philips DVD Player was rubbish, I could buy a JVC and the DVDs still played.
You bought into an available open standard. There were competing proprietary ones as well--just none as popular as CD or DVD. There is still an available open standard (albeit often at a higher price per track). The availability of more limited music doesn't limit you one bit. You chose the limited version over the unencumbered one because it was faster, easier, and/or more customizable.
As far as I'm concerned, anything I OWN, I should have fair use rights over, even if I wish to change the make of my player. Steve Jobs makes a big deal about us OWNING our music when we buy from iTunes. If I truly own it, I should have the right to use it how I wish. Which is it?
You do own the DRMed music file. You can use it without continued payment and without time limits. Ownership of the intellectual property of others has always been nuanced. There's ownership of content (lyrics, performance, etc. can all have different owners), of distribution (including licensing for public performance), of a license to the media (on a CD belonging to you or in a digital file under your control), and of course various forms of renting and leasing. When you buy music from iTunes (or any other pay-once service), you have indefinite (timewise) usage rights and control of that license. You do not, nor can Apple legally grant you, total control over the file.
If DRM is necessary, it should be interoperable between different manufacturers. The aim of it should be to prevent illegal copying, not allow vendor lock in.
There's nothing wrong with vendor lock-in so long as an easily attainable, universal solution also exists. Since you are not obligated to buy anything from iTMS if you own an iPod, there is no justifiable harm. What I would like to see is a service permitting you to assemble custom CDs from individual tracks (instead of being forced to buy entire albums) and lower prices from iTunes. Both of these require the recording industry to embrace the Internet, rather than fight it.

so ive got about 6217 files that are mpeg. I have so many different ranges of music on my ipod its killing me in my truck with things sounding better then others. So my question is and I dont know if this will help but should I just convert my entire music library over to aac? I have already made a back up of my music folder and went ahead and started to convert. If you folks say this is good then I will just go ahead and delete and move to trash all the mpegs.
Let me know please

Try enableing the timezone in iCal, and set it to the same as your iPod (I would change both to somewhere nearer to my own...)
You CHAMPION! :D :D
Yeah, that fixed it. It's a shame the iPod doesn't have more time-zones. You'd think they'd account for Australia!

I wrote this quick little hint about how to replace all of your "mailto" tags with a small bit of javascript. This is probably common knowledge to experts but for anyone who doesn't know, just trying to contribute to the anti spam cause!
Questions, comments, and feedback are VERY welcomed. I just built this site in the last 2 weeks all from scratch. If you find the article helpful, share it, blog it, link it, anything!

It's not that I have an innate fear of soldering :) the task indeed sounds fairly straightforward and from a rational perspective very little can go wrong but there is just something about connecting 2x $500 SSD's with a cable that underwent some DIY soldering that does not sit too well with me and I can't really test it with a cheapo PC first too as that does not have any backplane cables that have male SATA DATA/POWER header.
It's a better connection than using crimp connectors, and is how your expensive electronics are manufactured (all the components are soldered to the PCB). ;)
Soldering wire isn't as common as crimp connectors due to costs (more labor intensive to solder, as well as more expensive materials and equipment is used).
I believe I will instead purchase the kind of cable you posted a link to and stay away from soldering or using nuts and crimp connectors. It probably won't turn out much more expensive either as I won't be needing that SATA Y splitter, but a regular widely available 2xSATA power that connects to molex will do with a cable like in link.
Either way will work, so it's up to you (soldered version isn't quite as messy IMO).
Also have found this one, but it's 1m long! No info on how long the one in your link is too.

The one I linked was 0.5 meters. You cannot go over 1.0 meters in total cable length with SATA drives, so please keep that in mind (the signal voltage is weak, and anything longer causes stability problems).
And this one, but it has 2x SAS connectors on the main female header so I doubt it will be compatible with the backplane connection cable on the Mac Pro.

Heh, I was just sorting out my console collection today and found my 'Cube. Awesome little machine that was. But yea you should probably get;
Metroid Prime 1+2
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes
Mario Kart Double Dash is okay
Smash Bros Melee is brilliant
F-Zero GX is brilliant
Viewtiful Joe and Resident Evil 4 are pretty fun too
Mario Sunshine? It's got some great moments but it's not as good as Mario 64 or Mario Galaxy.

1. Apple officially announces that Boot Camp will be part of Leopard.
2. VMWare announces their product for OS X.
3. Microsoft kills VPC for Mac as it becomes pointless and sort of redundant.
After all, if they can sell the regular version of Windows to intel Mac users, why bother wasting money on something other companies are doing (VMWare and Parallels).
You want Windows on your Mac, use Boot Camp/buy VMWare or Parallels and then buy Windows like everyone else. No extra R&D funds/time required to enter the "Mac market", which thanks to Boot Camp is "all intel Mac users".
It's a simple business decision.
Yeah, this joke has been around forever. It originally was used when Windows 95 first came out. It isn't technically valid for NT, 2000, XP, or Vista. Those are just 32-bit (or 64-bit) OSes by a 2 bit company. :-D
Well, how about "Windows Vista: a 64-bit OS that can almost emulate a 32 bit shell running on a 16 bit extension of an 8 bit OS designed for a 4 bit CPU, made by a 2 bit company that can't stand one bit of competition."? ;-)

LCDs still suffer from a slow pixel response time, plus they can't display interlaced material properly. So they are not very good for sports broadcasts where the 60i or 50i video appears to have combing artifacts on the LCD.

I am selling an 8GB Apple iPhone. This iPhone was purchased as a refurb from AT&T on March 17, 2008 - less than 3 months old. I updated the warranty with Apple and it now reads:
iPhone
Serial #:YM724FK0***
United States
Limited Warranty
2. Warranty information about your iPhone
Our records indicate that your product is covered under Apple's Limited Warranty which is estimated to expire on March 17, 2009.
Your product is eligible for complimentary phone support which is estimated to expire on March 21, 2010.
The iPhone is in perfect working condition - there is some light scratching on the back of the phone, and an extremely small scratch on the upper-right quadrant of the front screen which is about 2mm long (see pictures). You can only see that scratch in certain lighting conditions - usually only when there is a white background on the phone.
Due to these slight scratches, I am willing to let it go for $300 + your method of shipping to wherever you may be. These phones have been moving on eBay for upwards of $600 in the past few days - they are coming down a bit now, but this is still a substantial savings.
Included with the iPhone is everything that came with the AT&T Refurb box, as well as a Power Support Crystal Film Set [not pictured]. There is one left - the first one got dirty and I had to scrap it, but the other one is brand new.
* 8GB iPhone
* Stereo Headset with mic
* Dock (still in original wrapping)
* Dock Connector to USB 2.0 Cable
* USB Power Adapter
* Power Support Crystal Film Set
On the off-chance that you live in Cleveland, I am willing to meet in person so you can check out the iPhone and pay in person. I work downtown in the warehouse district, so meeting in that area would be ideal.
eBay: hoehnen3 (196+ 100% positive)
heatware: mxpiazza (7 positive)
Also sold, bought and traded with many people on these forums.
Please don't troll, hijack, etc - post, PM or email if you are interested, if not, thanks for your time.

A subscript is the index you use to access the element of an array. In the C expression array[i], i is the subscript. In the C expression multidim[i][j], i and j are the subscripts. The term comes from mathematical matrices.

How it looks may ultimately depend on your TV, but generally it looks fine. Keep in mind it will not be as sharp as a monitor however because most graphics used in your apps were not built with a 10 ft. viewing experience in mind. Apps like Plex were built with this in mind and which is why the GUI still looks great 10 ft. away.
Not saying that other Apps will have horrible resolution, but something like typing a paper or sending an email will probably not be the best experience on such a large screen.
If I were you, I would not plan on doing everything on a 50 inch plasma. Things like Plex or maybe music composition are fine, but day-to-day computer tasks seem to be annoying on such a large screen. Maybe consider two different outputs if your setup allows for it.
Good luck

The design rocks, but the C2D is a non-starter. My nearly 4 year old faster CPU C2D machine chugs on my iTunes collection, flash, any hi-def. video.
I really have no use for it at this point. I really find it amazing that a 2.16 C2D is OK for they type f computing that I see around me...iTune, videos, huge DPI photos in iPhoto, etc. It literally took hours to import my iTunes library while iTunes was analyzing for volume...
That said, I will be the first to buy a Sandy Bridge MBA...basically my dream machine...
Didn't see your post or I simply would've said +1 lol.

The reason MacBU has had to abandon VBA is that the Mac compiler won't work on Intel Macs. And Microsoft has already announced that VBA is being deprecated on Windows (it will go on working for a few years, then will end). So there's no point devoting enormous efforts to making a new compiler only for it all to go away shortly afterwards. There is some reason to believe that eventually VB.NET will work on the Mac as it does on Windows, as a cross-platform solution. Until then, VBA macros need to be translated to AppleScript. There can be no better signal that MacBU is committeed to the Mac than to see the huge investment they have made in AppleScript. Office's AppleScript is already working as of Office and it mirrors the VBA model identically: macros can be translated to AppleScript _now_, and will then "just work" in the next version of Office too.
Interesting information.
So Office 2004 AppleScript can translate VB on the fly (and 2007 VB can translate AppleScript), or that's the goal and we aren't there yet?
If they can keep the scripting compatible, then I can definitely see a plus in dropping VB for Mac Office.

IThis is a useful fair use enabling technology. It will mean that iTMS purchased songs could be played on any player that has licensed Jon's work.
That isn't what this product does, and if it did it would run straight up against EUCD, DMCA etc.
It will mean that the iPod can play music from any store that has licensed Jon's work.
That is what the product is intended to accomplish.

lame update for the Macbook Pro.
looking forward for the next update in 2007 - OX 10.5 on macbook pro, then i'm ready to throw out $3,000.
"Lame"? More machince, same price. I've never call better lame.
But I do agree if you can wait a few more months, a great MBP will be ready with your name on it.
