The article said the house was 108 years old. It is probably protected by some historical society (or would become so once they applied for demolition). Then they would have to spend a lot more than $61,000 fighting those people in court.

They are in the northeast, not the west coast, so I don't think 108 years qualifies as necessarily historic. This issue has nothing to do with historical preservation societies.

The original owners should have disclosed this fact and should be sued. I don't care if there is a law on the book requiring the specific disclosure of whether the house was used as a drug lab -- the house is hazardous to their health and that alone seems like a material fact that should be disclosed during the buying process.

Wouldn't a lawyer take this case for the good PR alone?

Hello, I would appreciate your help in order to save me from infinite pain:

So, my girlfriend's iPod has decided to ruin my life by deleting (hopefully hiding) all of her many (many) photos saved in her iPod. Naturally, she has gone all crazy and evil on me.

I was the last to use it, so, naturally, she's blaming me. However, I honestly have no idea what has happened. This is the case:

    1) Apparently she had many (many) pictures/photos saved in her iPod.

    2) I used the iPod a few days ago to add/save some new songs. THAT'S ALL I DID.

    3) She went through her iPod yesterday and realized that the pictures were gone. On top of that, they were replaced randomly by some pictures taken from Photo Booth and 3 others saved in our MacBookPro.

    4) She exploded. To make matters worse, all of the "new" pictures that are suddenly there replacing the old ones feature my face and a few things that are mine. She originally thought I added them there myself because they are mostly pictures of me.

    5) Today, while trying to fix this problem, I discovered that these "new" albums/pictures of mine that replaced the other ones in her iPod have been there since 2009 (on Iphoto, I mean)! All this pics can only be viewed through iPhoto. I've tried to "open" the iPod in every way in order to search for any hidden photos or material that could still be there.

The random albums (that I have no idea how they got there in the first place) date: 1) October 2009 2) February 2010 3) August 2010 and 4) March 28, 2011.

Why has this happened? How can we fix this?

    1) She says she didn't delete or move her pictures at all.
    2) I haven't that done either. I only copied a music cd in the ipod.
    3) Why are those random pictures all of the sudden saved in the iPhoto AND directly in her iPod? Neither of us did that. The pictures have been saved there since forever (2009). But, what does that have to do with disappearing/deleting many (many) pictures in the iPod?

Please help me. Is there any way to get them back? I've tried to search the ipod for pics, but, all it says is that there are 26 available photos which are the random ones that replaced all the many (many) others she had.

    Ugh.

    1) Please don't DP to boost exposure to your post. It's just not cricket.:p

    2) Is the iPod originally linked to another computer? The most likely scenario is that it is, and you've inadvertently ignored the "This iPod is linked to a different computer. Syncing it will erase the iPod." message.

    3) Have you backed up the photos somewhere else?

We've requested that both ads be removed from the ad pool.

How long does it take for them to remove them? They're still coming up more than a week later, and I'm tempted to install an ad blocker (though I won't).

Top-line iMac or base-line Mac Pro?

Hey guys, I'm a video editor that works mostly with RED footage in Final Cut Pro and After Effects. I'm also a gamer running Bootcamp and Steam. I'm currently working on a 3 year old Macbook Pro and looking to upgrade by the end of the year. Here are my choices, I'm wondering if a new top of the line iMac will outperform the current base model of the Mac Pros for gaming and video work... or if the Mac Pro is the way to go.

    27" iMac
    3.4ghz Quad-Core i7
    2TB Serial ATA HD
    AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB
    $2,304 (Student)

    Mac Pro
    2.8ghz Quad-Core Xeon "Nehalem"
    2TB 7200 RPM HD
    ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB
    $2,614 (Student w/ no display)

I plan on buying RAM (and Mac Pro display) elsewhere so I did not include it in the specs. Thoughts? :)

It's nice, one minor detail though: the border (shadow) doesn't blend to well with the background. It's not immediatly apparent on Safari because it adjusts to the width of the page, but on other browsers you can see a rectangle surrounding the shadow. Otherwise it's cool

edit: oops, munkle beat me to it

No, the 6970 is a 2 year old card. It may have come OUT this year.

Being as powerful as a card from 2 years ago and being to years old is something different. The 6970 is from this year not from 2 years ago. However you may be right with the performance.

I think I will be making it to the Ardmore store. I have never been to a launch there. I was hoping to get there at 3:30 ish too. I am hoping for a WiFi 64 GB one, with an orange cover. We shale see, this will be my first launch day event since Leopard came out, and that wasn't bad at all.

Recently I've been having major problems with my Airport (PowerBook G4) -- a lot of stalls and stops when opening even the most basic webpages, can't download new software (although I did manage to download the latest airport update) -- it's almost as if I'm on dial-up. It's always run a bit slow, but lately it's just been unacceptable. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with my provider. Does anyone here have any idea why this is happening?

Are the processor's all "Desktop" or are they "Mobile"?
Since this Samsung processor is a 2630 QM (used in the base MacBookPro I believe) The base iMac should have at least that right?

When I click the search box in IE6, the submit button does highlight, but I can still type in the text field.

It might be the button:active declaration in the CSS that IE6 is hiccuping on.

I just checked again and the "Go" button gets highlighted and I CAN enter text and search. My IE6 was installed automatically with XP Pro.

People brick iPhones because they are trying to unlock it and have to mess with the baseland. Theres really no risk in simply jailbreaking. Worse thing that can happen is you have to reset and restore. As far as iOS updates go, if you update, you lose your jailbreak. The jailbreak for 4.3 has not been publicly released yet and the tethered version that is out now is crap so wait for a public release of a 4.3 untethered jailbreak, or downgrade to 4.2.1 (if you saved your SHSH blobs) and jailbreak with Greenpois0n.

    Escape Velocity! Marathon!

I saw a 575 on Craigslist the other day for $20. As others have said, it was a fine machine back in the day, but not very collectable without the original packaging, and in pristine condition.

So hold onto it, play some games, and bask in the nostalgia!

No problem, hopefully it's something simple.

Have you removed the preference file though? I'd do that first because it's a pretty harmless troubleshooting technique that is generally quite effective. :)

Remember to keep the file so that if it doesn't fix anything, you can put it back where you found it to keep your old settings. :)

Am I the only one who feels this way?

It harder glass - and it is harder to scratch. But harder objects don't necessarily resist shattering better.
