Muscelnerd tweeted that all iPad 2 jailbreaks would have to be userland. Im glad comex found an exploit...and especially this fast.
Me too, I've been hoping it would happen soon.
Hopefully they find a hardware/low-level exploit so it will be jailbreakable for life. But I know for a fact that would near a release until the iPhone 5 is released and purchasable.

I need a firewire DVD R/W as, in case of need, I could do the boot by means of it, as my Mac mini is a PowerPC one (I read that only Intel Mac can boot by means of USB optical drives).
By the way, what do you think about the Hamlet HEXD5UA-D DVD R/W ? It has both firewire and usb.
are you in the uk or ireland? it uses 220 power. I would not be able to comment on it I don't think it sells in usa we have 110/120 power.

Hm, well I just bought this cable from the apple store yesterday.
http://store.apple.com/us/product/TP320LL/A
and to answer the above question, yes I did install the drivers.
Sounds strange. Do you have other Devices connected to your MacBook at the same time? Does your Macbook work with other interfaces / harddiscs you plug in?
Try to chat with the Apogee Support. It's very quick and friendly.

That's nothing to do with built-in versus external flash.
Essentially you need to select the dark areas and lighten them, and probably fiddle with the colouring a bit. You could try cloning but they're quite large areas.

That line looks to be outside the view volume.
The default view volume is a cube with sides of 2 with the camera at the center pointing towards the negative z direction. The default projection is ortho.
Unless if you changed the defaults, 180,15,0 and 10,45,0 are completely outside of the view volume.
Try something inside, for example:
glBegin(GL_LINES);
glVertex3f( 0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f);
glVertex3f(-1.0f,-1.0f, 0.0f);
glEnd();
You should also put in the translation by -6 if you are using a perspective camera.

A very good story, It has made me think about my up and coming switch.
I am certainly looking forward to the day but I don't want to have great expectations, even though my ipod purchase made a month ago has certainly lived up to my expectations.

I agree with the frustration with Apple.
In someways, I feel bad that I have had to JB my iOS devices. But it is frustrating that it is what is necessary to try to have a reasonable experience.
For example, from the get go, I don't have to swipe to unlock. Why is something so basic not built in to the control panel? If I want to turn off Swipe To Unlock, I should be able to, period!
I find it very frustrating that I can't connect my USB card reader and read CF memory cards. My choice to upgrade from 3.2, but frustrating nonetheless.
I also should be able to change the default browser, display anything I want to VGA, change my brightness with a couple of clicks, put more on my dock, etc.
On the other hand, it is hard to dispute the number of quality apps. I know I am not married to Apple, so, if and when there is a device and OS equal to the iPad/iOS, I will have NOT qualms about switching.
Wow, you hit every nail on the head. I agree with you 100%. I think Apple's defense of trying to create a streamline experience is bogus.

I downloaded the trial of appzapper thinking that I'd actually try to keep my new macbook pro clean and get rid of the "hidden" files associated with other applications.
AppZapper, AppCleaner, CleanApp, TrashMe, and similar apps do not do a thorough job of removing all files/folders related to deleted apps. I tested several of these, using Skype as the app to be removed. Of 17 items to be removed:
AppZapper missed 13 items
AppCleaner missed 11 items
AppDelete missed 8 items
Hazel missed 9 items
I also tested AppTrap, CleanMyMac and a few others, but don't recall how many items they missed. All left files/folders behind. In most cases, they remove .plist files and a few others, but leave behind much larger files and folders. (you will find a discussion of these tests in the thread linked below)
One app that I would not recommend, based on the number of complaints that have been posted in this forum and elsewhere, is CleanMyMac. As an example: CleanMyMac cleaned too much (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=709930)
The only effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:
Best way to FULLY DELETE a program (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=11171082&postcount=16)
Now, when I try to open pdfs in Safari (to just view in the browser, and not download them), a dialog box opens asking me where adobe reader is because safari can't read the pdf. I can only download the pdf.

OP,
You have received quite a great amount of advice, since I posted earlier in the thread. As Firestarter, so eloquently pointed out, RAID is not Back-up per-say, rather it is a storage solution. I use various RAID configurations, because they work for me. I went with RAID 1 & RAID 1+0 (10) storage setups, because they are what works for me & my work-flow. I shoot way too much, to be using DVD's as a storage solution.
From my experience, I have yet to encounter someone, that has a had a CD/DVD last more than a Decade. IMO, that type of statement is not valid, till we've had DVD-R's for two decades or so, and can prove that they are still readable years later. Lab Testing, doesn't count for crap in real life.
I bought my Mac Pro on eBay, and have yet to encounter any issues with it. It is a 1st Gen (1,1), and has worked flawlessly. After I received it, I added 12GB of Ram, and re-configured the HDD Bays for my needs.
Bay 1: 250GB for OS, Documents, & Apps
Bay 2: 1TB 7200, for Scratch and only Scratch. I have it setup for both CS5 & Final Cut, but that's it. I do not use it for anything else.
Bay 3: 1TB 7200. OSX RAID 1
Bay 4: 1TB 7200. OSX RAID 1
Both 3 & 4, are linked together via OSX, in a RAID 1 Configuration. I use the RAID 1 primarily for active files that I am rendering/ working from (i.e. Images & Videos), however, I also make a clone of the 250GB HDD, that I regularly update, as files are created/ edited.
Though Designer Dale, pointed out that I am a Pro, I also started out learning the ropes through mostly trial & error, of what to buy & what not to buy. That is a rather expensive road however, and forums didn't exist back in the late 90's & early 00's, like they do today. Whether your a Pro, a Hobbyist, or a Beginner, it doesn't really matter when it comes to storage. Storing & backing up Images/ Videos/ Files, is just part of the modern digital age. When I am asked about cameras' to buy, I suggest to anyone, that is looking to invest into the newer DSLR's/ HDSLR's, to also invest in large HDD's to back up the rather large images, that are captured by the newer bodies.
Snberk103, has hit the nail on the head, regarding his most recent post. Mac Pro's are typically a longer term investment. Though I bought a 1st Gen, it is quite sufficient for running CS5 in 64 Bit, and Rendering video in Final Cut.
Here is an example of daily usage on my MP: I typically have 6-10 Apps running at any given time, and though I have PS CS5 maxed out, Ram allotment wise (80% of total Ram), I never max out all 12 gigs. Highest I have ever hit, with both CS5 & FC running @ 100% + FireFox & PhotoMechanic is 9 of 12GB. If I leave FF running for days on end, then it will consume 1-1.5GB of Ram on its own, and I will start getting paging issues on certain sites. Even though the MP is a 1,1, it is expandable to 32GB of Ram. :D
I also have a Spring 2008 24" iMac (2.4 C2D, 4GB Ram, 250GB HDD), and it does well running CS3, FF, & PhotoMechanic. But the iMac is nearly maxed out Ram wise, and doesn't offer the expandability of the Mac Pro. However, since I bought the Mac Pro, the iMac is resigned to light duty, as it just doesn't stack up to the Mac Pro, though the iMac is several years newer.
The suggestion for an LCD to compliment your Mac Pro investment, is quite an important area to look into. I currently use the last generation of the 23" ACD. Color Accuracy is dead on, however, when I start looking for a replacement, I will be looking towards both the NEC PA Series Line-up (http://necdisplay.com/category/desktop-monitors) & also the Dell UltraSharp line-up (http://www.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/global/products/landing/en/ultrasharpmonitor?c=us&l=en&cs=04).

I got a deal from DreamHost that TOTALLY sounded to be good to be true. They are an awesome company, though and have the greatest support. PM me for more details.
Don't waste your time PMing someone about Dreamhost... people talk about how awesome their service is all the time and all over the web. Dreamhost is rapidly becoming very popular because they are :
1- Cheap
2- Responsive to problems and very knowledgeable
3- Offer LOTS of good stuff
4- Always giving you more good stuff (like upping bandwidth and hard disk space)

For which system?
Also the reason for the M rating should be listed on the game. Your parents can decide what they think is appropriate for you based on the content, and not just the rating. If they are worried about you seeing nudity or sex, then you should stay away from Bioware games.
There is nudity in Bioware games? I've seen the illusion of sex, where they "do it" but you don't see a thing, and no nudity (Mass Effect, DAO)

It's as easy to use as an ATM. They wouldn't even need to include instructions!
Just like most everything else, I trust Apple has thought this through a little more than our collective minds. They wouldn't put out something that wouldn't work.
