[QUOTE=NY Guitarist;12326532]I will buy the MBA when it gets a backlit keyboard. I really like the small, light form but need to be able to see the keys in a dark room (or stage). The sales guy at the Apple store just told me to "crank the screen brightness and tilt the display down to light the keys". :D Yeah, uh no, the last thing I need in the dark is a brighter screen.
It is one or two generations before the curent moddel, but mine has the SSD and the backlit keyboard. I couldn't live without the backlit keyboard....use it on night flights and in bed all the time.
I'd consider selling my 13" and getting an 11", but not till they put back the backlit keyboard. Can't understand why they did away with it.
You can sometimes find used ones on Ebay or in the Apple refurbished store.

1) Apple will add a spreadsheet program to the iWork suite, what an amazing revelation!
In a similar fashion I would like to announce some other astounding revelations of the same magnitude.
2) In november of this year, there will be an election, and the winner will be a republican or a democrat.
3) In december a horde of men with white beards wearing red and white outfits will start popping up in shopping outlets and all over the media.
4) At the break of dawn tomorrow the sun will rise up into the sky.
;) You don't have to be nostradamus to guess the prediction in this story's headline, but joking aside, the details are rather interesting.

Hey everyone. I'm pretty new at this, so sorry if this is an easy question. I've been searching for a few hours now trying to figure out a few things with the Zorsha Theme. First, there are a few apps images that have been mis-labeled, such as Maps, Photos and the App Store. Does anyone know what these need to be labeled as so the images come up?
Also, once a new app image comes out, what are the steps for assigning image to the app.
Thanks for any and all help, even if this has been asked a lot before.

uganda? no thanks and unchecked from iTunes connect. that government needs to be focusing on some serious social growth before worrying about getting an app store. i wonder if the ugandan government will prosecute those who download gay-themed apps along with the others for so-called "attempted homosexuality".
why did apple sponsor "no to prop 8" in california but give uganda an app store? what a joke!

Anyone heard whether the jailbreak Comex was working on was patched by 4.3.1, or was that just speculation that it would patch the exploit?
Confirmed that the exploit was patched in 4.3.1:

I just had an Art Director for a Stop Motion Animation Movie Company leave our shop. We ran a bunch of 3x6 foot fine art prints for her for the Sundance Film Festival (we are in Utah).
She and her art team created the posters digitally from a series of still photos taken with a Nikon D-300. The still photos were of painted sets and set characters. The paints they used were very pastel-like and bright. They then pushed these prints and added text in RGB format in Illustrator and Photoshop.
Their display was a Dell 30" high Color.
We showed them proofs on a calibrated high gamut HP LP3065 and then on an ACD 23".
Our printers for this job are fully calibrated (closed loop color) HP Z3100, Colorspan Displaymaker, and HP DesignJet 130 both with EFI Designer XL RIPS with full Spectrophotometer Support.
The art director was highly bummed that the InkJet Prints would not match her Dell or our HP LP3065 (both very wide gamut). She had no background in Color Management and no understanding of RGB versus CMYK, if you can imagine this!!
She kept moaning that she needed to find a way for the print to match her display. We kept telling her to refer to the ACD 23 for a more realistic expectation as to how the prints would look in final form.
It was amazing to me her lack of understanding of color gamut and how cmyk printing cannot match today's HC or High Gamut Monitors.
I offer this to this thread as there are a lot of people complaining that Apple's ACD's are "out-of-date," etc.
Actually, they are not: they are simply technology that is very targeted at a group of professionals that Apple use to covet as its "own:" print professionals and print-based photographers.
While Apple has moved past this market heavily into entertainment and broadcast video, their monitors have remained focused on this area. Surely they will update them. But for now, please understand why Apple's ACD's remain as they are and that they still have a large user base that actually needs and prefers these gamut specs.
I am of the belief that a creative shop should have many monitors as we do: some high gamut and some standard SWOP gamut, like ACD's.
We moved far beyond print a long time ago: we focus now on Video, CMS-based web development and broadcasting, and Flash. High Gamut is great for this (though not without its risks even for this market as many end-users have older, low gamut LCD's).
But to call Apple's ACD's out of date is just pain misinformation and lack of knowledge on a complex and tricky subject.
great post; very interesting. i currently own a 23" ACD but have been entertaining the idea of upgrading to a 30", and the HP has been high on the list because of its high contrast, multiple inputs and attractive price compared to the ACD30.
are you saying that using the adjustment controls on the HP, one cannot balance the color to match that of the ACD? or is it just that at its "default" values out of the box, it gives a hyped picture?

After taking about a 3 hours nap, I've spent the last several hours working on my blog post of the iPhone 3G S launch at the Miami Beach Apple Store.
This being Miami Beach, it wasn't your average launch...with police shoot outs, road blocks, drunk people stumbling by the line (and dancing), and of course Mr. Clucky.

Why not just get an 8GB iPod Touch? Is the camera feature an absolute must?

Nice job!
Only caveat is that it most definitely feels as if the amount of information is a tad overwhelming. Would it be possible to make it simpler? Its a hard job, but possible.
Nice job on making it XHTML Standards compliant!

What are the chances of the latter? In a similar thread was made. One of the replies was something to the effect of, "Fat chance... wait until 2011!".
What do you think? :D

"CHEAP GAS!" is fast becoming a firm favorite.
You can filter by cheapest gas price within your zip code or allow IPhone to detect your current location. Also filter by closest gas station.
Recently I had virtually run out of gas with just under 1 km worth of fuel showing. The app enabled me to determine where the closest gas station was and the price they were charging. Maps and directions to the nearest, or any gas station are given.
People who have downloaded this app maintain it and keep prices current by uploading whenever possible.

5-0 Radio is another app that allows you to listen in to Police/Fire/ Emergency channels as well as Ham Radio stations around the world.
Just downloaded "HBO GO".You have to be a cable subscriber to HBO though.
Looking forward to watching The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm , etc on the IPhone when nothing better to do.

I believe option that is left now is to wait for Jailbreak and then actually dig inside the ipa and try to see if its possible to spoof their check

let me start by saying that I just got my first mac ever (a new imac) last week.
last night I spend close to an hour just opening tons of different sized windows and using expose.
is this normal or is this the first sign of a mac addiction problem?
or both? :)
First just wanna say CONGRATS on your first Mac :)
Now back to you question: Who's to say being addicted to a Mac isn't normal :p (yea I don't if that even makes sense, lol) But yes I love Epos as well. Very handy feature.

This was a product that has been pretty secret - even though there have been rumors about it - for so long and it was such a monumental announcement that the families had to be there.

1st off, I like the new design aesthetically speaking. It looks more professional and elegant despite having so much content.
One problem for me however is that the left and right columns are of fixed width while the center column is of variable width.
This is superior when I'm viewing the site in a very large browser window on a desktop set to very high resolutions. However, at 'normal' sizes (I'm defining 'normal here as a browser window that takes up about 2/3 the width of an 18" screen set to 1024x768) the center column is unbearably narrow. In fact, when I make the browser window a bit smaller the center column completely dissappears (being wholy eclipsed by the side columns)!
I should note that I'm viewing the site from a Win2K box using IE6 (a fairly common setup even for a Mac-centric website I should think).
Anyway, thanks and keep up the good work.

The Optimum app was working fine for a few days when I was at home on my wireless network. As of last night I started getting an error which reads "you must be connected to your home network and signed in to watch Live TV".
Also yesterday I was finally able to connect via VPN from a wifi hot spot but got the same error message. So now I have 2 issues.
I can't connect from every wifi hotspot I try, only certain ones
I now can't connect to LIVE TV either at home or over vpn when away from home.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
