Glad I saw the software updates, ordered a 30G black refurb, but it's a 5G, so, I can get the higher res videos and play games. that works for me. Couldnt beat it for $199 + tax.

Who was asking why MS has to lockdown Windows with an absurd level of protection via WGA? Here is your answer.
If they only spent as much energy locking their browser security down as they did with WGA, there wouldn't be any spyware.

Thank you for the quick response, Night Spring.
You were right - the only choices are to stay at 3.2 or update to 4.3.2.
However, iTunes would not let me restore from my 4.3.1 backup unless I update to 4.3.2. I guess that's logical since the newer 4.3.1 ver would have certain features (like folders) that are not supported by the older 3.2 ver hence the need to update first.
On that basis, I decided to take your advice and update to 4.3.2. Was stumped for a while when I encountered a "3194 error" but later was told by the service centre that it could be caused by Apple's server being shut-down (seems it happens on Sundays in particular). All's resolved now and I am currently doing the restore from my back-up.
Thanks again for the help! Now for the hopefully not-too-long wait for the untethered jb!

Is anyone going to be camping out? Myself and a few friends will be there. We will be playing poker and other games on our card table. :-)
If your at Arden come by and say hi.
I have 2 iphones on reserve and will probably be showing up a little before the mall opens to try and figure out where the lines are.

OK... I am not sure if it needs to get sent out, but if it does, you're gonna be outta luck for a little while. I need to get my pb repaired too, but because of the hurrican, the houston plant has been completely evacuated and all air shipments have been stopped. So I wouldn't worry about taking it in for like another week or so. I am supposed to send my Apple Store Guy a e-mail later in the week to get an update about when I should come in. So, yeah I would call the Apple store before you do anything. Oh, and sent out repairs are usually estimated at 7-10 days. ;)

Yes.
Yes, as long as it's a real CD and not one of those wacky not-really-CD things with bizarre copy protect schemes. Even most of those can be brought into an iPod, though.
Thanks.

I also read that the Quad's failure rating is around 1 percent compared to the dual 2.5 from 2004 and dual 2.7 from early 2005 - am I correct?
Not correct at all. Even the most reliable G5 ever (dual 2.3) has a failure rate of 11%. The worst is the first gen. dual 2.0GHz at 32%. No G5 model could ever even dream of having a single digit failure rate.

I think, none has jailbroken ipad 2 yet. Neither Comex, if he had done it, he wud already pushed it out before anyone could. That draws more respect!!
I think its more of a photoshopped image!!
+1 for my ignore list.
You have a lot to learn.

What are we supposed to make fun of now?
Of course I guess just because the product is dead doesn't mean we can't keep making fun of ole' poo brown Zune.
Officially confirms that this was a really, really bad idea:

Nah, the icon itself is super cool. I'm sure the Zune is obscure enough that he can say that he designed the icon himself.

My son has an iPod which we have been able to connect to our home wireless router to give him internet access.
However, I have a second wireless router that I use for travelling product demonstrations. I don't have internet access on this router, I don't need it all I want to do connect wireless devices to a PC.
Now I have an old HP iPAQ and connecting it to my second router is a no brainer because all that stuff about gateways etc is irrelevant because I am not accessing the Internet. All I need is a WEP password and away it goes.
However, the iPod just doesn't work at all. I get the tick beside my second router after entering the WEP password but cannot ping or anything. In fact if my internet connected router is within range the iPod will ignore my selection and swap to that.
Am I missing something or does the iPod simply not work without the Internet?

Why is it that the iPad and the iPhone have great Sync with the iMa, but the small drive MBA has no Sync. Both the MBA and the iPad can be 64GB. Since one cannot cram a 1 Terabyte drive into 64GB of the MBA, there is a need for the Sync.
The MBA is not an iOS device. If you want a syncing solution, install one. Plenty of them available out there.

What's the reasoning that he won't release the 4.3 exploit? That's disappointing. A lot of people are still on 4.3 on the iPad 2.
Anyone posting on here that hes not going to release it is obviously a newcomer and is reading this information from crap sites. Comex never once said he was not releasing it, Musclenerd is working on getting Cydia to work properly, and ironing out any-other JB releated issues. This is most likely what is going on. Comex has posted a screen of the file directory for his exploit on his twitter account. I would not doubt if the iPad 2 JB is released in the same tool but is still tethered while the rest is not. If you want accurate information start following the key players on Twitter, and quit relying on an public forum for information.

Regardless of when it comes out, this version will likely get the A5 if I had to guess. Next year will be the year of LTE plus a form factor change. The iPad 3 and iPhone 6 may actually keep the A5 for the first time in years (for the iPhone line).
I don't see a need for an A6 until foundries move to the 28 nm node and apple can either shrink and clock the current A5 higher (while still getting better battery life) or go quad core. When 2013 hits we can start talking about Eagle designs hitting smartphones.

You don't want to use sudo with MAMP's mysql. (the user "root" in mysql isn't the same thing as the user "root" in OS X, they just picked the same name to confuse everybody.)
Assuming you kept the MAMP defaults, use this command to do what you tried:
./mysqladmin -u root -p create databasename
When it prompts you for a password, that should also be root (use whatever password is shown when you open the start page from the MAMP control panel).
(You probably noticed from what I wrote above that MAMP is configured in a wildly insecure manner. It should only be used for development, it's not suitable for use on public networks!)

4.3.0 sucks bad. Gyroscope isn't recognized by apps that need it, which is a huge bug. Also crap battery life, facetime issues, and other assorted annoyances. I'll take a 4.3.0 jb, but id much prefer 4.3.1.
Not sure what "issues" you're having, but I've had 4.3 (never seen it called "4.3.0" since there's no such thing, Math 101), but I don't have gyro issues, and my battery life is fantastic. I can't say I use facetime much, but when I have I've had no issues. Sounds like you might have a device issue, not a widespread OS issue. When Apple released 4.3, it was widely understood that it was released to plug the jailbreak.... tho it seems for many that "issues" suddenly are realized when Apple releases a "fix" ... I have a feeling that you're the type that if Apple releases 4.3.2 to fix "volume issues" you'll suddenly complain that you hate 4.3.1 because of the volume bug, even though you'd never mentioned it until they said they're fixing it. That's the type of person psychics prey on... lol.
Wouldn't surprise me, it is just a bunch of ungrateful and impatient drones.
This is why I ditched iPhone and went to Android 2 months ago. I got sick of the waiting game for jailbreaks. I have no right to a jailbreak, I just wanted it sooner, and the devs have had a harder and harder time making it happen for every OS release. Android on the other hand, has everything I jailbreak for already built into the OS... widgets, better multitasking, personal hotspot (not ad-hoc crap, etc). I bought an iPad assuming the chatter about "it's almost here" from 3 weeks ago wouldn't be like the Christmas promises that didn't come through till February for iPhone, but again I was disappointed.
Again, I don't feel entitled to something, my frustration isn't with the Dev Team, it's with Apple. They're focusing sooooo much energy on fighting jailbreaking that Android has focused the same time on building the features and OS that users want. If this thing doesn't come out in the next week this iPad is going back. Apple already lost me in the phone business, guess they want to alienate me as a tablet customer too?
Ok, queue the Apple fanboy flamers... it's fine, I can take it. I speak from reality not fanaticism. 1 year ago iOS owned the market, now Android does. Give it one more year and it won't even be close if Apple continues to treat customers like prisoners. That didn't work out well for them in the 80s, which gave MSFT the ammo they needed to permanently take the market, and this isn't panning out any different.
