Could it be that Apple is going to release this new video iPod after Zune so it can steal MS's thunder?....
What do you guys think?
I've been thinking this all along. However, the rumors don't seem to support a near release. But except for the price change, the Sept. iPod releases were not very revolutionary. Release this and watch what happens at holiday time. :D

no one seems to be pointing out that they got rid of educational pricing for iPods... that's a bummer.
That sucks. On the otherhand, when Apple sends my Walmart the new batch I can plop one in layway.

Hey guys,
I have a powermac g4 digital audio I believe, 700 mhz processor. I also have 2 powermac g3's I believe the fastest that created. 400 mhz or something like that. I have another g4 with the 350 processor that I can test the power control which with but it would be a pain because my grandparents are using it so it would take a while to get it unhooked/dug out, they use it as a paper holder behind a desk cords and everything are ran through the desk.
Here's my 3 questions:
1. The Powermac g4 when you push the power button it lights up but when you release it goes out. The logicboard does not respond. Should I buy a new power control module or is there a way to use the one from the g3, it looked different at first glance.
2. To run a home server is it better to run a g4 with the faster processor or a g3 with more ram, the g3 has 4 slots the g4 only 3.
3. Best way to use as a media server I was thinking put everything into itunes and use the homesharing, is that available in tiger? Is that the best way to do it?
It will be used with apple tv, macbook, powerbook, ibook, imac g5, xbox 360?
Thanks in advance for the advice.
Here's the short version:
1. Which powermac to use as a server?
2. Best way to do media server?
1.) The logic board is fried. (Don't buy a new one)
2.) Niether, you probably don't need a server and even if you do a G3 or G4 is simply to slow for the job. Buy yourself a bottom of the line Mac Mini with an external RAID 1 drive for your media server "needs". Also make sure you get 4GBs minimum on the RAM.
3.) Get 10.5/10.6 if you have intel and run something like Plex.
Cheers

I ended up going in and dropping it off, but they'll ship it back to me. Some day.
Gotta say, the service is pretty good, apart from the thing where they didn't have a magic wand they could wave to Just Make It Better. While I was there, they were helping someone with one of the silver-looking powerbook G4s, and they covered some stuff under warranty for someone with a black macbook that was 67 days out of warranty.
And here's me with a notebook that's maybe four months old, boring.

Yup.. and bars to the left and right as well, which left me unsatisfied..It's really no wonder that the Romans didn't have good mathematicians. With these numbers, calculations must have been impossible...

are you using version 1 or version 1.0.1 of cablevision app?
Coleman and others - this temp sync will work and as a side benefit you won't be able to update in itunes :) I tried it few times with my friend and shared app works just fine. Only issue I see is CV closing this hole by disabling older version of software from accessing the network. until that happens your idea will work
Forgot one thing. There is no need to drive or go anywhere. This can be done remotely via teamviewer application. Its free and works fast.

This has got to be a decoy patent. Because if it's not:
(1) How do you design a case to protect it while exposing the bezel 360 degrees around so you can touch it? No coverage in front? Actually, a case couldn't even have a lip to hold it on because your finger would have to get in there to press upon the bezel.
(2) How do you realistically even pick it up or move it if pushing the bezel on nearly any side activates these programmed dynamic buttons? You'd have to Lock it every time you want to touch the thing so you don't activate some function.
This would be a terrible form-does-not-follow-function idea.
Your comments don't take into account that Apple is also going to design in the ultimate intuitive interface. The device will KNOW what you mean for it to do when you touch it. It will intuit just like a thermos KNOWS whether to keep the hot things hot and the cold things cold and is ultimately simple.
;-)

Great Question! Mostly for posterity sake at first - phase 2 will most likely be filming (transfering?) a bunch of Super 8 movies and doing the same - need to research more on that still...
I'd say 30hrs of 8mm, god knows how many Super 8...
Somewhere before getting on with phase 2, I plan on editing and throwing together some things like our annual visits up north vacationing throughout the last 10 years or so..
The "what's next" question is perfect for if I should choose certain formats etc for whatever I do next!

Yojiirill needs to check out Pinkerton.
Raditude is fun though.
Pinkerton is their best album. But the first 3 were all good. After that, it all goes down hill fast.

The new Apple TV has no onboard flash storage. It also has no USB port. How is it supposed to compete with those other devices? There's also no way it has the processing power to compete with the Xbox 360 and PS3. You add in the lack of any control other than the basic Apple Remote and you have little to no chance of a successful platform for anything other than video, music and pictures. I bought an Xbox 360 Arcade for $150, and you can get a newer model now or soon with a 4GB HDD and built-in WiFi for $200. You add a $10 Windows Media remote and you've got something WAY better than Apple TV.

I'm amazed at the news too. One of the things T-Mobile had going for it is they were one of only two large providers (with Cingular) in the US that used an international standard. It's sad to see them switch away from it.
T-Mobile is adding a UMTS network to their existing GSM network. Like Cingular, they run GSM on 1900MHz (Cingular also uses 850) because the 1800/900 frequencies available outside the US are not available in the US.
T-Mobile's UMTS network will be running on 2.1/1.7GHz. Again, the 2.1/1.9GHz frequencies used by UMTS in other countries are not available in the US.
There is no change in their support for international standards. Other than operating frequencies - something they have no control over - they're implementing the exact same standards that, say, Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile, and O2 are implementing in the UK. GSM on some frequencies. 3GSM (UMTS) on others.

I have my mac with me right now and i realized that word 2011 does not give you that option. all you would have to do is click on the line spacing button, and select line spacing options. From there towards the bottom of the newly popped up window there is a section called spacing. underneath that you will see before and after make sure they both are set to 0 pt.. that way there won't be a space before/after your paragraph.
best of luck!
best of luck!

Nonsense. Pages is perfectly capable of serving as a everyday word processor outside of "consumer" environment, and Keynote whacks the poop out of PowerPoint for presentations.
And if you need to use those pages or keynote projects at work or in school?

That was another one I was going to mention. What does it cover? Steve? Apple in general? Apple vs. Microsoft? Thanks. I'd like to get a couple of books, which sorta cover all the above points when combined, if you see what I mean. :)
Thanks

I like the mba, but they are so god awful slow. Maybe im just used to fast computers but no way i could use current gen of mba. Maybe next time but 6 year old tech is a bit to old for me.
Nonsense. The key component of the MBA is the SSD. The MBA has coped with everything I've thrown at it. If the C2D was coupled with a mechanical HDD then I'm sure the performance would be very "2007", but it's a great little machine that can deal with practically anything you ask it too.
