    (1) In regards to Excel, the program has become the industry standard kind of by default more than anything. If you look back through it's "history", Excel really hasn't changed much since the beginning. Sure, the interface is better, and the introduced more comprehensive Macros and other crap that just makes it confusing for most users, but the structure and base features are exactly the same. Frankly, the only features that are worrysome when sending Excel documents via email are the Macros, and those don't even work properly from computer to computer, let alone across different programs (ie. Excel to "Lasso"). So, long story short, I'm very excited to see what Apple comes up with and really don't think interoperability will be an issue at all.

    (2) In regards to Pages, and the complaints I've seen on here about it, let's not forget that in the world of software, iWork is a BABY. MS Office has been around forever, whereas Pages is only a few years old. And frankly, it already works light years better than Word could ever dream to. If you've ever attempting to do anything in Word other than type, you know it is so chock full of bugs and quirks that by the end of your project you'd rather write it out free hand.

So bring on Lasso, and Pages '07. I can not WAIT to delete office from my Mac and be done with everything that has that dirty M-word on it forever.

    That is all.

So, unfortunately, my fancy display isn't finished yet, and most of my Macs are in storage at the moment, but here's a video of what I've got at the moment...

    The video (http://att.macrumors.com/contest4m/337636.mp4)

Here is my .Mac Gallery link ( http://gallery.mac.com/ehurtley/100023 ). My .Mac Gallery has Tiny, Mobile, and Medium sizes; whereas the version I attempted to upload to MacRumors was a customized 'Mobile' movie. (I lowered the bitrate, and had lower bitrate mono sound compared to a 'standard' Mobile movie to make it fit under 15 MB.)

Thanks for fixing the uploaded version, Doc Q! (So, I tried to upload it 4 or 5 times. Were there a bunch of copies, and I just wasn't getting the URL, or did it not upload at all?)

Thanks! Yes, I have lowered them and get about 15 fps on both games. I guess I can live with that considering the resolution is a step above playing these games through something like Onlive which is kind of janky on wifi and muddy graphics.

What OS are you running?, because I'm pretty sure the MBA can run crysis 2 better than that. Also you could try setting the OS resolution to 800, 450 as theres a guy on youtube getting 25-50 fps with 800,500 on 13inch. Just search crysis 2 MBA.

I was digging on Wikipedia and other sources. I must have missed the part where Microsoft either sold or kept their stocks. I couldn't find hard evidence that they truly sold it. If they own 1/100 of a percent, then they are just keeping a light leash for some corporate reason.

Microsoft sold all of their Apple shares a long time ago.

...I am pretty much disappointed after waiting months for a refresh that was suppose to be a substantial upgrade over last years iMacs. I think alot of us had unwarranted expectations due to the HUGE increase in the MBP performance.

Here is where I am coming from. I am an accountant so spending money were a return isn't realized is against what I believe in. Therefore, I planned to buy the base 27" version. So many times before this refresh I was tempted to buy the base 3.6ghz dual core that was available. I am still a fan of a high clock speed because it makes a difference in daily single and dual core tasks. However, I waited mainly due to most on this forum stating I would regret it and the upgraded processors were going to be substantially better.

    Let's compare the benchmarks:

    32 bit

3.6ghz dual core (last year) - 7,000 average

    2.7 quad core (sandy bridge) - 7950

    64 bit

    3.6ghz dual core (last year) - 7,745

    2.7 quad core (sandy bridge) - 8625

Is this really a substantial jump? You take away clock speed (even though you do have turbo boost to 3.7) and add two cores and you get less than a 1,000 point increase.

I've heard 2 different stories on the tickets @ Best Buy.

1 - They are not able to be redeemed until tomorrow, March 12th
2- They can be used after launch @ 5 PM.

Any ideas on what the official story is?

    Thanks!

you connect ipad to your computer. then sign out of itunes, launch teamviewer app. then someone with version 1. connects. transfers the file to your computer then sign in with that info and sync it. the only thing u have to be careful is not to allow ipad to sync apps and stuff as it will overwrite what you have in there.

I Have font doctor on my laptop macbook pro 17" 2.93 ghz 2duo latest os with updates.

I have been having problems with font doctor 7.7

I have at least 4 gigs of fonts on a drive.
Problem #1: Font doctor does not complete its task when I run the whole folder. Problem # 2 if I run font doctor on individual small folders within my font folder some font folders get complete repairs some folders do not ( lags on last task and does not complete).
Problem#3 does not complete task on organizing fonts if i try

Does anyone know of a good alternative to font repair and organization latest software?

I have to say, I've never experienced an issue with FontDoctor itself, it has come across problem fonts that it couldn't fix, but the app itself I've always found to be utterly bulletproof, and that's with 12GB of fonts.

Sounds more like the issue is with specific corrupt fonts rather than any inherent issue with the software.

Have you tried completely uninstalling and then reinstalling FontDoctor? That's always my first port of call when I hit a software problem of any kind.

Failing that, it might be worth trying a dedicated font manager like FontAgent Pro, FontExplorer X Pro or Suitcase Fusion. I used Suitcase for years and I found it to be solid (though some found it to be anything but), but I now use FontExplorer X Pro, all have the ability to detect and in some instances repair fonts on the fly, whilst also isolating problem fonts.

That might be the best way to approach it, try one manager, load all your fonts into it and organise them, any corrupt ones will be flagged when loading, and then isolate those fonts into specific folders that you can then run through FontDoctor separately (without the overhead of 4GB worth of fonts weighing FontDoctor down) and see how you go with that.

It really might be worth your time converting all your fonts into .otf formats using FontXChange though, I have and it's so much easier managing them rather than f'in' about with the archaic formats of old. Just a thought. ;)

Actually, I don't believe the built-in flash went off on the mall's camera. Yes, if they had used one, then this wouldn't be a thread topic.

I agree, though, that the shadows on my son's face is rather prohibiting of doing anything with it.

great video bro, awesome performance. im getting the base 27 incher on saturday, cant wait ;)

Did u get a free printer with yours?

Thx man. Is there a special with printer?

Apple salesperson never mentioned it. She did say, "you don't want the better graphics card for extra $100?" I said, "will it help with Photoshop" she said "no mainly for games." I just got the stock model since I don't play games otherwise it'd be online order.

You'll love the 27", IPS screen is amazing. Also speakers are really good, I was very surprised.
