Well, it's still the most annoying, continuous issue with OSX. Steve keeps saying it has finally been improved, but it still sucks. :p
Remember when they released the Finder with the side panel on the left side? Man, where were we without that? I can't even remember how bad Finder was in 10.2.x :o
We used the Favourites folder.
so... new macbooks wont have this yet.. :(
After Leopard is released in the new MacBooks will have it.

Thanks!
I do somewhat regularly run maintenance in Disk Utility. I'm assuming you meant "Verify Disk" and "Repair Disk Permissions." Ran them both again anyways.
I have one more question before I attempt this fix. Will trashing those files kill meta-data? It seems like it will playlists, but one can get that back. What about play counts, album art, genre tags, etc? I've added a lot of data in the "get into" pane and would hate to see that all gone.

All these crazy profits quarter after quarter, and they can't lower the prices...
Unreal greed.
Apple isn't a charity. They only have profits because they don't lower the prices.

And in Perl, you can run this directly from Mac OS X Terminal:
perl -e '$j = 0.2; $k = 6; for ($i = 0; $i < 30; $i++) { $j = $k * $j - 1; print $j . " "; }'
It is just one of a handful of ways that show that if you don't think when you program a function then you can end up with something that doesn't work simply because of limitations within floating point units within computers today. One solution is to use decimal mathematics for decimal numbers (the other being to think about your algorithm to increase numerical accuracy). This is quite slow (relatively) on processors without decimal hardware, however the forthcoming Power6 does incorporate a decimal mathematics unit, that can handle 36 digit numbers according to the new IEEE 754R standard:

meeting someone in person who has the 1.0 version and having them log into iTunes on my iPad long enough to install the app and then logging out.
Kind of an underground app sharing scenario requiring an actual meeting.
I'll buy the lunch :)

The option you want is out there and legally available--it's just that CDs are a "bad value."
I don't know what CD prices are like in the US, but here in the UK they are far from "bad value" compared to tracks on iTunes.
Most new CDs can be picked up for around 8 at the major supermarkets or online from places like play.com or cdwow.com. For this 8 I get a physical item (complete with inlay) that I can keep forever. I put it in my Mac, rip it to iTunes and I _also_ get a DRM-free mp3 version at any bit rate I require. Should I choose to ditch my iPod at some point in the future and move to a rival player, my ripped tunes will still work. And if they don't, I have the physical CD to fall back on.
For the same money on iTunes I get nothing more than a file on my Mac whose lifespan is subject to the whim of the hardware I use and the company that oversees it. I'm locked in to iPod.
CDs don't seem to be bad value to me.

Thanks, that looks really interesting.
Quite welcome :). And that brand is good - I have a couple hard drive docks from them. And as far as the reseller - OtherWorldComputing - they are excellent as well and do a lot of international business. I have one of their SSDs in my iMac.

[QUOTE=globalhemp]Yeah and Disney is shut down the service after 8 months with little or no interest in the service. And is going to cost them $30 million to shut it down. As a Disney and Apple sharehold I think it is a bad business model to be in.
Shutting down eh?
I would have thought that if Apple was getting into the MVNO business, they'd have been better off doing a joint venture with Disney. Ah well. Which network is Disney using anyway?

I am curious. Has anyone else had success setting this up? How is it working out for you?
I was able to get it working. Thanks for your instructions. Now I need to wait for TW to improve their service so I can actually get more than 5 secs of video stream. I would be very interested to know if anyone who has TW cable has been able to get this to work reliably.

OMG! That would be awesome - a phone that's a GPS Navigation that you could load where you're going in the phone with relevant picture pointers 'you are now passing MacDonalds on your right handside' and picture flashes up on your phone of the location taken by another user of Googlemaps... while you're driving in the car...
That's way more than I thought the iPhone would be... if it is the iPhone.
If it is then Apple will have pulled another 'miracle of modern technologies' off!
I think this is good thing!

I have an Intel iMac running Leopard. Last year I accidentally unplugged my Geek Squad USB flash drive without ejecting first, and ever since then I have had problems with a weird disk image on my desktop. It doesn't matter how many times I eject it, it always comes back whenever I reboot or even wake the computer from sleep mode. This ghost flash drive is completely independent of the Geek Squad drive which loads and ejects normally.
The disk image is called "No Name" and when you click "get info" it says the format is MS-DOS (FAT16). It originally said it was created in 1979 (???) Today I got sick of it finally. I scanned it for malware. There was none, and my antivirus software wouldn't delete it. Then I tried Disk Utility. I selected the disk (which showed up as a flash drive) and did a 7-pass erase. All that did is change the title from "No Name" to "Untitled" and got rid of the 1979 created date info. The disk image is still there.
Anybody know how to get rid of it?

i've read a few..
apple confidential - good book, but i think it's bit of an information overload. the layout is kinda odd - i can't remember, but i don't think it was chronological. and plus there was little 'facts' splattered all over the page. i think
icon - this one was okay. i was looking forward to this one (maybe because it actually has a decent cover?). anyway, it didn't disappoint. i liked it because it was much more up to date than the others (and therefore covered apple & steve's recent success)
the second coming of steve jobs - i bought this as an audiobook and i've listened to it a few times. very interesting. (although maybe i liked it because it was being read to be and i'm lazy? who knows..)
anyway, i have apple confidential handy. if you want to borrow it to read let me know, jack.

I had to hit the restore button, then it finally showed that there was the 1.2 update. all is well for me now, search functions, games, and downloading a movie now to test.
- the games look incredible, mini-golf is really addicting!
I can find everything except the advanced search function. Can you find that on your old 5G iPod? I can't for the life of me.
(Otherwise, I see all the functions -- games work, the quick scrolling where the big letter is displayed works, haven't tried gapless playback though but I'm assuming that works.)

People were curious on how they relock your device. How is this possible? Isn't once it is unlocked it's unlocked? I guess apple does it differently than other phones like I suspected.

Anyone here who uses a stand with their MB Air? I'm looking for a small, stylish stand that angles the Air up slightly towards the back. I am currently using a belkin cooling stand, leftover from my MB days.

What I don't understand is there is a perfectly good 4.3.0 exploit for the iPad 2. Why the hell can't comex simply release it for those of us who didn't upgrade?
I agree! I'm still running 4.3.0!
