Hey, someone from my Apple User Group is trying to sell their 1.33Ghz 17" pb. If you're interested, I'll PM them on our forum and ask what they want for it. It has 1GB RAM/Superdrive.

Just in my opinion it could be better if you add images of a person/kid/personnel + computer. Straight to the point, easily understand, coz you put the most important catchy part of the site, which is the apple products in the middle which is totally not related to the services that you offer, and even if you do, it still look better with understandable image that is related to your service.

O2 sales reps here are telling customers that the iPhone 5 is coming in June. Admittedly, sales reps are the last people I'd trust, but it's surprising that they're volunteering a specific month; and more so that they'd say something which might stop a customer buying a phone over the next 2 months.

Except for the downsides we're discussing. Macs being on the cutting edge of technology won't instantly transform the billions of web pages into scaleable, 'new web' sites. These sites are not going to instantly decide to redesign their pages at a higher dpi just because this new technology is out. It's not like they all redesign when bigger monitors come out. These transitions take many years.
At the very least, resolution independence is no worse than changing the display resolution. If you change the display resolution, the monitor is simply doing scaling automatically to match it to the native resolution. However, it's scaling the entire screen as a single bitmap. This is why the screen looks blurry if you run at anything but the native resolution. (Note: This is with LCDs.)
With resolution indepence, at worst you do the same type of scaling in the OS. However in this case, the scaling algorithm affects only one app, the algorithm can be updated, and it can be better than the one used by the monitor.

Yeah, but if Apple want to compete in the media center market, they will have to produce a small box that will do all....ie put HDMI in Mac Mini (iTV could be a cut down version of this??)
DVI and HDMI are almost the same thing (do a search on Google for "dvi hdmi").
Well, HDMI also carries the audio signal, but you can get a cheap cable or converter to hook up your Mac Mini to a HDMI TV and use another cable for audio.

There were several stories on that a while back. (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=google+dns+slow+apple+downloads&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8)Don't recall the outcome.
FWIW, I'm on OpenDNS and I just installed Tiger from scratch on 2 machines and downloads were very fast.
I reverted back to my ISP's DNS servers and will report back when Apple releases another update - OpenDNS has domain hijacking issues/censorship, so I won't use it.

Actually, I have been looking for a new monitor and was really hoping that the ACDs would be updated. At the very least, their price is almost twice that of a similar display from practically everyone else. Granted, they have a nicer design, but a 6ms refresh time is pretty slow these days.
Hardly. The panel is a S-IPS LG.Philips LM230W02 (for the 23"). This is probably the very best panel you can buy anywhere for a 23/24". The displays you are talking about aren't similar displays at all - they are inferior PVA or TN types. Hence, the price. Faster response times (for gamers) don't appear in S-IPS panels - only in cheaper TN types.
A comparable display is the NEC LCD2490WUXi which you won't find for under about $1100. The ACD 23" is in fact for the quality of the display good value. The main problem with it is the lack of inputs and the 1 year-guarantee.
The only change that Apple could make to the 23" is to things like the inputs (which personally I would like to see) because there is no better panel. Of course they could change to a 24" but this is not a better panel. Just a slightly larger one.
One legit worry is if you buy the 23" now, and Apple changes to a 24" then buying a second panel will be a problem.

I downloaded BOINC, made an account, it says that it is running. Joined the MR Team.
BOINC is for other projects, like SETI. macrumors does have a team.
Passkey? So I downloaded the file on that site and opened that Fah6 thing, and it is asking for a passkey. Do I have to do anything else other than that? And how can I have it run automatically?
you can get a passkey, but you don't have to have one. since you're just starting, i'd just leave it blank

It does for those of us who want an extremely light and small laptop running OS X but don't care a fig for specs. I would contend that there are many such people.
Wait until you upgrade to 10.7.

If they really do discontinue the 12" and do not replace it, there just might be a price drop.

I can't believe AT&T still won't unlock iPhones: In the UK, O2 will unlock anyone's contract phone for free (you just need to ask), and a PAYG one for 15 (plus the loss of the free web bolt on you get for the first 12 months).

Thanks for the link!
I took it to an Apple store today and they diagnosed it as the graphics card failure. They are replacing the MLB for free (would be a $863 repair otherwise..ouch.)
Knightrider, I suggest you do the same thing! It was a pretty quick diagnosis and I should have it back within 3-5 days.

It's impressive that the iPhone is doing so well in the face of the continual public bashing that AT&T is always taking. Does the iPhone have such allure that people are willing to switch to an inferior carrier just to own the device?
Not everyone has problems with AT&T. I personally don't and i know others who don't as well. Now if you base at&t being inferior based on things said online then obviously some people will be trolls and make things up just to be on the bandwagon.
Personally i love my AT&T service and sure its dropped some calls. But show me a wireless provider who has never had dropped calls. BTW the people switching to verizon will be spending alot more money and not even getting unlimited data.

How tall is the stand? Could be the stand height plus the height the iMac display is at. Try just removing the monitor stand and have the iMac on the desk by itself since the chin of the iMac sort of raises the viewing of it a bit
It is on the desk, I think thats what is causing the problem I measured the distance from the floor to the top of the screen and the Imac was about a foot lower.
I've added a stand to raise it up... (ok it's standing on a speaker at the moment) which has raised it about 7 inches so i'll see how that goes also dropped my seat a bit.

I too am having some of your problems the most annoying is the frozen screen problem. I have been in touch back and forth with apple about it. They thought the 10.6.7 update fixed it and it didn't. Then they told me they wanted my computer for the engineers to look at it but I needed to send them mine and then they would work on building my new one and then ship it I would be out of a computer for at least a week. Which I could not do. I offered to pay for a computer and then get refunded when they got mine but they said that since this was not through sales or service but though the engineering side they couldn't do that. So the tech told me that they are working on it and an update would fix it soon so I have been waiting patiently months now. Not much else I can do

Ok this one is 1st place now imho.
The other video was good but what did it for me here was the original Apple data tape.
Good job!!
heh. Before it died, I had a beige G3 that was my server, with an external SCSI DDS drive that I used for backing up. I have about 15 Apple-branded tapes, plus a bunch of HP branded ones. Now that I have the B&W G3, I have a dual layer DVD R drive that I back up to. (More capacity.)
