Yep iPhoto is pretty lame imo.. Aperture is what iPhoto should have been. But I guess Apple gets a little more money selling the 'pro' editor separately rather than including it in the OS package.
I guess for the average p+s photographer like my mom who doesn't even know that she's not stuck with the pictures exactly as rendered from her camera and only wants to do some light cropping and straightening, it's a fine piece of work. But no reason to save all those duplicate files and hog up hdd space, definitely!

I never use the ICON method. I only use the Bundles Method. here's a quick walkthru:
First use a program like iFile (iphone), Iphone Browser (desktop) or AppInfo (app) to find the info. I prefer Iphone Browser when working themes but iFile does the trick well just slower.
Drill down to:
/var/mobile/Applications (used for App Store app's)
/var/stash/Applications (used for Cydia Store app's)
for both, click on your app, i'll give an example for BiteSMS:
drill down to the correct folder stated above, click on:
biteSMS.app
scroll down to Info.plist, click to view and look for:
CFBundleIdentifier: used for Folder Name
CFBundleIconFiles: used for icon name, there may be multiple here but for IP4 use the "@2x" one.
Now that you have that info you'll need to create a subfolder inside the Bundles folder of your theme's Directory in Winterboard found at:
/var/stash/Themes

Sounds like stealing music to me..
I figured I'd get blasted for this after I post. The thing is, the share feature is incorporated into iTunes and lets you listen to other peoples music. I want to download their music so I can put it on my iPod. I'm still only listening to it and not selling it or making money off it.. I dunno.

Re: Yeah and Disney is shut down the service after 8 months with little or no interest in the service. And is going to cost them $30 million to shut it down and as Disney and Apple sharehold it think it is a bad business model to be in.
Yeah, this is like saying selling legal music downloads is bad since Wal-Mart has not been as successful as Apple.
Granted, I would most likely never purchase a Disney phone. However, I would certainly consider purchasing an Apple phone. Apple knows as well as its user base than an Apple phone has to work and have cool features either not available elsewhere or features that "just work." Google has been built on the Apple model of simple is better. Powerful features are available, but not placed front and center as akward apps made by less successful companies.

Try resetting the system management controller first (smc).
Resetting SMC will not have any effect on a hardware problem. Did you even read the OP's post? Or did you read it and you simply have no idea what you're talking about?

You are going to be so disappointed when they announce the phone and you realize that they just released a phone. Yes, the phone is designed by Apple and has a nice UI, maybe one somewhat unique feature, but you're essentially going to be getting a fairly regular phone with a feature that most people would never use often.
I realize that it hasn't been released yet, but the iPhone will never live up to the hype. The number of people who have said they're waiting for it to be released in order to buy it is staggering.......and a bit scary. I wouldn't be waiting for a product when I haven't seen a photo of it, when I haven't seen a features list, a technical specs page, or even a release date. That's crazy.
Dude, I fully realise that this is a pipe dream... and that it might not happen - but seriously - don't be a buzz kill!? These forums are all about dreaming.
In my reality - I fully expect the iPhone to be a phone. I just hope that it's a good phone... I will probably buy it... I'm just an apple freak - I bought the iPod before it got really popular... I just want to be one of the first to have one... having the extra features will be a frickin bonus if you ask me... how awesome would it be - come on admit it if this phone had all the features you would seriously consider getting one! No?

I did a search (although my search may have been less than perfect) and didn't find a thread on this, so here goes...
Twice in the last 10 days my MacPro has locked up while browsing Safari. Fans go full speed and sounds like it's going to fly away. I have to hard shut down and when I do, the power light blinks off and on. No sequence, just off and on. I do a power reset by unplugging the tower for 30 seconds and pressing the power button to clear memory. Startup and all is good. I can't find anything in the logs that indicate a memory issue or possible graphics card problem.
Any suggestions?
P.S. I'm using an early '08 MacPro (2.8 8 core) with a WD SSD boot drive, 8 gigs of RAM and have the ATI Radeon HD 3870. I also ran Rember to test memory and that said everything was good.

I was watching the iMovie 11 presentation and I'm just curious about predictions to FCP 8, especially the interface. We can be certain of the technical improvements in media management and power -- multi-core, 64 bit. But from iMovie 11 I see
1. Totally integrated visual sound editing, live with all the tools from Sound Track Pro. Who wants to go out to a sperate application. No need.
2. Which means proper titling software is truly built in
3. And of course effects are now much simpler to apply and preview. Perhaps the left hand window is completely context sensitive -- effects, sound editing, or source footage -- with the ability to edit in that window with dragging a selection area and cut into the timeline
4. Of course there will be some sort of realtime compression as you continue to work. And the compression engine will be completely overhauled.
DVD Studio Pro needs a complete overhaul too and should support blu-ray authoring. Perhaps the bag of hurt is coming to Lion :-) But burners will be Thunderbolt external only, making it of use primarily to content creators protecting Apple's Digital Download model. But at least thunderbolt is fast enough to allow for the fastest blu-ray burners.
Anyhow, some of these changes speak to the rumor of a more consumer version. It will be MORE powerful than iMovie 11, but include live effects and powerful sound editing without having to exit the application, much like iMovie. Of course media management (final cut server) will be vastly improved and integrated into this one version. Enjoy!

I'm going to a university this year and I've saved up some money to buy either base model Air or iMac.
I'm going to receive a ipad2 from ma uncle and I was wondering if buying the imac was worth it bc its better performance.
Would it be alright if I take the ipad to classes and work in the iMac?
What I do in the computer are gaming, news, youtube, and music
Gaming would be better on the iMac. If you're going to use the iPad for classes i'd recommend a case with a keyboard, it'll make taking notes much easier.

Indeed, AT&T should be doing it especially once the 2 year contract has expired-- as should Apple themselves.
Furthermore, Apple should be selling factory unlocked iPhones in the US.
It's funny because when a bunch of lawyers (or lawyer'd up consumers) went after ATT solely for the purpose of unlocking the iPhone after the contractual obligation, people were like:
WTF WELCOME TO AMERICA WHERE THE HOOKERS ARE CHEAP AND THE LAWSUITS ARE PLENTIFUL
or my favorite
WHY OH WHY CAN'T A COMPANY JUST MAKE A PHONE FOR ATT AND NOT VERIZON IT'S APPLES CHOICE.
Those who are familiar with the lawsuit will remember clearly that having the iPhone on verizon (at the time) was never a goal.
So it's the consumers fault on this one.

Steve said in the CNBC interview post-keynote:
(loosely quoted) "I serve at the pleasure of the board of directors and the stockholders, and as long as they are happy with the job I'm doing, I'd love to keep doing this job."
To me, that doesn't sound like he's going anywhere anytime soon.

I was just curious how long the carriers store the contents of text messages in the U.S. Do they permanently store information like phone number texted, date, and time? Is there any evidence that they in fact do store the content of text messages sent for more than seventy-two hours or so?

There were several stories on that a while back. (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=google+dns+slow+apple+downloads&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8)Don't recall the outcome.
FWIW, I'm on OpenDNS and I just installed Tiger from scratch on 2 machines and downloads were very fast.

What do you mean in a way? http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/home/shop_mac/mac_accessories/memory?mco=MTM3Njk4ODc
If i go to this site, what is my mac genration?
Yes, it means "generation", but if you have a late 2007 MB, then you don't have a "MacBook 7,1", but a MacBook 3,1, which you can find out via the way I showed you.
Thus you choose "MacBook (Generation 3) Family (http://store.apple.com/ca/memoryfamily/ME_MB_PREV_G3)".
But if you want to save some money, buy somewhere else, as Apple is quite expensive for RAM.
It is 77 USD (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/DDR2/) vs. 210 USD (http://store.apple.com/ca/memorymodel/ME_13_2_16_MB), that's a difference of 2.7.

Can anyone give an estimate, based off of previous releases, as to how long it'll take for a public release? I can't be the only one itching to jailbreak my iPad2.
I'm no expert, but it's a user land exploit which is in the firmware itself. Jailbreaks on other iDevices are hardware which means Jailbreakable for life.
It's most likely going to be at jailbreakme.com, which is a .PDF used to exploit. So I guess a few days at most. It's not going to be a program like Redsn0w or pwnagetool.
So it should be pretty quick.
I don't understand why everyone is getting so mad. It got moved, chill out.
