My MBP is up and running 24/7 now, HP laptop working during business hours, and my CD iMac is running at night. I should be back to my "normal" output.
Now I am itching to buy a MP :p
glad to hear it!

Lol, it's really, really ugly. Looks horrible to me and has nothing to do with the minimal Apple look I love. Reminds me of those GTK apps running on old Linux distros.

Samsung's smartest course of action probably would have been to work with whatever terms Apple had been offering before legal action ensued.
You are assuming Apple offered them any terms.
Apple's suit is largely around Samsung copying Apple's product appearances in many ways. What you are assuming is like Rolls Royce saying to GM, "Your new car design looks just like a Rolls Royce in so many ways a customer can't tell them apart. However if you'll give us "X" amount of money, We'll let you copy us."

Steve Jobs knew about this in January... this says a lot about his vision. I'm confident that he is already well-prepared for this and has something up his sleeve to counter it.
There will NOT be a sudden exodus to Argo from iPod. If it ever happens, it will be gradual and easy to fix.
Sounds a bit like the CEO of Sony when the Xbox was released...lets just hope microsoft doesn't do to this industry leader what it did to Sony

They want screenshots and numbers, but since the EULA says we cannot disclose numbers, not much left but screenshots. Oh and for the record, I was not able to get my XP to install properly. Tried about 3x. As for my choice, Parallels for stability, but VMware for the multi-core support. I'll leave it at that.

As it is looking, looks like the show might be done period. Which just sucks. One of my favorite shows too! :mad:They show will be on as long as the ratings are up. Maybe Sheen gets killed off when he crashes his car next season and then their long lost brother enters.

Let's just assume it's half music and half movies. That's roughly 142,000 songs and over 3000 movies. At .99 cents per song and $10 per movie, that's $170,000 if he paid for it. And he's complaining about $20 year. Hmmm....
Well, I don't know about this guy specifically. But I own over 20,000 vinyl records. Average 10 tracks each, that's 200,000 songs right there. Not to count at least that many 45's. A collection I've gathered over 50 years. Not to mention 78's, cylinders, etc.
Ever shopped a used music store? Movie store? Goodwill? I have thousands of movies myself, many of which I only paid a dollar or even less for.
I download hundreds of songs from emusic for about half the iTunes price.
It's pretty easy to amass a large collectiion without ever paying retail, and being completely legal.
I can't even begin to count the LP's that have been GIVEN to me over the years by people who went to CD and didn't want them anymore, taking up room. Literally station wagons full -- back when station wagons were HUGE. Cost? How about 0 cents per track, except the time spent playing them into the computer. And I'll be damned if I rebuy all the vinyl I bought through the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Ever have someone GIVE you a few hundred CD's because they're all now in their computer and ipod, and they don't want them taking up the room anymore? Sure, thats probably not legal, however, they made a copy and gave the originals away! It certainly wasn't a legal violation on my part! Are they supposed to put them in the trash? I suppose so.
Any idea how many CD's you can buy out there at 50 cents a pop at second hand stores and garage sales? Somehow, that's still legal!
I know I'm not the only one like me out here! Just saying... you're not considering the possibilities. And there's no way I would EVEr pay to stream my stuff from the internet (there is no "cloud")

It's really disconcerting that so many of the UI changes that Apple has made over the past few OS X iterations have seemed rather arbitrary. Cosmetic improvements are fine (though I think that this look for iCal would be a major step backward), but they should be concentrating on functionality, speed, reliability, and security. If I'm going to give up Rosetta for OS 10.7, I'd like to get a lot more than eye candy.

What is that "springing" option with the dock?
Spring-loaded folders in the dock. So you can drag a file onto a folder in the dock and have it spring open - like in the Finder.

An interesting read in response to the kernel panic ability of the .DMG vulnerability:
Guess what I found? Not only is lmh’s diagnosis completely incorrect, but the problem isn’t a security flaw at all, let alone a critical, highly critical, or warn-everyone-via-the-BBC type event.
http://alastairs-place.net/2006/11/dmg-vulnerability/
A very insteresting read.. most of which I only barely grasp. Object oriented programming just makes my eyes glaze thinking about it.. The gist:
So, what have we learned:
• It is not a memory overwrite bug.
• It is not exploitable, except in that you can kernel panic a machine if you can persuade a user to double-click a damaged dmg file.
• It is not, therefore, possible to use this bug for privilege elevation or to execute arbitrary code in the kernel.
In fact, all lmh has found here is a bug that causes a kernel panic. Not a security flaw. Not a memory corruption bug. Just a completely orderly kernel panic. There aren’t even any processor exceptions involved; the path to the panic is perfectly normal non-exceptional code using ordinary function calls.
AppleTalk: Who uses it, and why?
No one.. and stangely it's now ON by DEFAULT in all the MacTels I've received lately. No idea why.

Thunderbolt IO is fantastic...no qualms there. Im just not sure how applicable it is in the laptop arena. IMO, if youre a professional with massive external storage...which is needed to be accessed quickly: youre already using a desktop. Also, Im not sure what good ThunderBolt accessed HDD do you...as the drives are the bottleneck. Its gonna be a little while before I hook the ol' TB SSD enclosure(cause I dont have the cheddar to buy on) up to my ThunderBolt MacbookPro. Its kinda like Bugatti Tires on a Nissan Z.

i hope this is true!
i am a 4G contractor right now here in T-mobile and i'll tell you HSPA+ is not as fast as verizon LTE but hey, there is no cap! right now im testing HSPA+ and im getting 4mbps on mytouch.
i hope this merging will not push thru.. or else, at&t will only butcher t-mobile good network..
4mbps on hspa+ ? We've been getting 4mbps speeds for a few years now.
You know, t-mobile starting this nonsense of hspa+ as 4G, they deserve to have their network butchered.

against other manufacturer's offerings both spec and pricewise?
In terms of specs, here's what you can get in an HP Pavilion dv6000t for $1263:
Windows XP Media Center
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.00 GHz)
15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen!!
256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400
Built-in Microphone + Webcam
1.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x512MB)
120 GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support
But the HPs are definitely NOT slim computers like the MBPs (you can go check them out at Best Buy). I don't know of any PC makers that are producing anything as slim as the MBPs, so it makes comparisons hard. But in terms of "specs", there you have it. Interestingly, the HPs even offer integrated webcams now, so I was actually able to spec the above computer to something very, very close to the MBPs. I couldn't find an option for integrated Bluetooth, though...

a television doesn't make sense. For one thing it'll be too expensive. I say focus on making the apple tv a better product.
