If they had them, and consequently added probably $100 or more to the price of the display, would you actually commit to buying one... today?...Totally agree.
While they will probably update them eventually, the only thing they could really add today are things that the market for the thing doesn't actually need or want. Sure it would be nice if they were thinner, they are already thicker at the edges than the current aluminium iMac. But it's certainly not a show stopper that they are.
I predict the update will happen in conjunction with some real and necessary improvement in the design. Either by adding multi-touch (with associated arm-rests ;) ), or because they will be made more environment friendly perhaps.
I do think they could be a bit cheaper than they currently are. The minimum ACD worth getting is the 23" which is still basically a thousand dollars after taxes even if you get a refurbished one at the educational price.

Yeah, Steve did only say 802.11 which strikes me as odd, but why would they use n in the set top box, when all of the current Macs have g? I don't see Apple telling everyone who just bought a new Mac "too bad"
Unless recent Macs have 802.11n which just needs a firmware update to unlock it.
The 802.11n spec is not finalized yet, so it is doubtfull that they would be able to just firmware update new macs to have the spec.
Either Apple has drastically enhanced/streamlined their streaming protocol, or they are going to have to use 802.11n to stream videos over a wireless network. MacWorld has reviewed the current FrontRow setup (using bonjour), and has said that you can't rely on a 802.11G stream for a long movie (you pretty much have to use a wired connection).
Note that all of the iTV's in yesterday's demo were hooked up with Ethernet.
am i the only one a little disappointed at the Apple announcements?
Here's why:
1- only 1 studio signed on for movies, they are purchases, not rentals also.
2- ipod changes are not dramatic, more like minor tweaks. Ipod nano even is using an older case design. video ipod is a serious letdown, looks like they can't get the 16:9 model working.
3- no ipod/smartphone/treo type device.
it is like apple knew they didnt have great announcements so they announced the Itv device.
Some positives though:
1- Updated Itunes 7 Looks alot nicer, runs better. Hell i even have the pics for all of my owned cd's i ripped now.
2- movies are starting, nice thing for apple. hope they get more studios under contract.
3- games on ipod. this seems nice, but these games are hardly killer app's. i imagine more games over time. like there will be movies
Apple, you really need to start
You may have had your expectations too high. Apple did exactly what rumors had predicted, and a little more (updated shuffle, and we weren't 100% on the iTV).

If you're interested in random people's music libraries, why not go through a few last.fm profiles instead ?
Applying your suggested technique will also result in huge files for some:

Yes, this wouldn't affect Push at all. It's not like jailbreaking. As for an exchange... I assume if you told them that you had a factory unlocked phone, they would check the IMEI information and unlock the replacement phone for you in the store.
Are you assuming or do you know for a fact? I just ask because my assumption was that Apple would look up whether or not you bought the phone unlocked, because in the U.S. there's no official and authorized way to get an unlock, so perhaps at the Genius Bar here in the U.S. Apple would simply look at whether the phone was bought locked or unlocked and replace it with a matching model. Or would they do what you said to accommodate foreign iPhone owners with phones that their carriers officially unlocked?
Now that I think about it, if you have a non-U.S. iPhone and take it to the Genius Bar in the U.S., do they have replacement GSM phones that aren't locked to AT&T?

This makes me sad.

If I install an app directly on the phone over wifi using an account that I created just to test with the app installs and is not deleted off device on a sync even though computer is not authorized for that account. App is not transferred to iTunes on computer.
But...
If I install the app via the computer through iTunes ( needing to authorize the computer for that account ) the app installs onto device. I delete app from iTunes so it should appear like above scenario. Problem happens when computer is de-authorized. On next sync app gets deleted off device unless computer is re-authorized for account that installed app on device.
Any suggestions?
Maybe I am missing something but somehow how an app get installed makes a difference. I think it is strange...

1) do dual monitors use up more RAM? if so...
Nope. Memory for graphics is based upon the amount of physical memory in the system. I believe less than 4Gb reserves 128Mb for video, 4Gb and above reserves 256Gb RAM.
2) how much RAM is a safe amount (im buying aftermarket), if i want to run iTunes, Google Chrome, PS CS5, AI CS5, a lot of the time at the same time?
4Gb of RAM is safe, but 8Gb of RAM costs $80.
3) is the Core 2 Duo capable of that?! And if i got the 2.66 GHz over the 2.4, would i notice the difference.
Yes, but i don't think you'll notice much difference in proc speed. The Mac Mini ships with a 5400rpm notebook drive, so you'll find more of a performance improvement from going to a 7200rpm drive, or a hybrid SSD/HDD storage device.
4) Last but not least, if i want to use it mainly as a windows machine, and boot it from windows, how much should i keep for the mac partition.
You probably want 20-30Gb. AFAIK, Apple don't release updates for EFI and other hardware related stuff via Windows, so you will need a usable Mac OS X installation available for that.
Also, can you change how much each partition gets later on? if so, how?
You can backup, repartition and restore. You can't do it non-destructively as far as I know.

I had this same problem. It seems it was due to virtual 'parellels' adapters that are automatically activated. I created separate 'network locations' (in network preferences) for home where airport took preference over ethernet and the the two parallels adapters were deleted. It solved the problem. Good luck!

I was working at my job at a camera store; I had just pulled in around when it started happening I guess. I remember parts of the day vividly...I even remember what I was listening to on the stereo on the way in. We didn't know what was going on until a coworker that was off that day called (I took the phone call) and told us. We pretty much watched the TV all day after that.

Any idea on store opening times and when's the best time to que up. Going to one of the stores in Middlesbrough, Stockton or Darlington.
I think I said it in the "Newcastle, UK" thread but I've been to the three previous iPhone launches at Darlington's O2 store and there's never been a queue before 8.30 for a 9am opening.
I can't vouch for the other two but Darlo might be an easy place to get a 4 :)
